Hello everyone,

I've been looking into all the different nutritional courses accredited by BANT and have received prospectuses from a good proportion of them now. After going through the web sites and prospectuses of most of the courses, a couple of them stand out. I've seen posts on this site recommend The Institute of Optimal Nutrition as being the best, but I'm very unlikely to be able to make the Friday evenings that are required at the college as I have a full time job and live in the Birmingham area. It's just too far to travel to make it in time.

The course that really caught my eye was from The College of Natural Nutrition (CNN), but I don't know what their reputation is like. Has anyone studied on their nutritional courses or heard anything about them? They are also accredited by The Institute of Complementary Medicine (ICM), and The Complementary Medical Association (CMA) as well as The British Association of Nutritional Therapists (BANT).

The course at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) sounded pretty good as well, but again, I don't know anything about their reputation, other than that their nutritional course is accredited by BANT. Can anyone enlighten me? 🙂

Thank you,

weever~

RE: Recommend a BANT accredited course?

Dear Weever

I have been exploring distance learning options like you, and I too realise that ION would be the best diploma to get, but living in Leicestershire with family and work committments mean that I just cannot spare that number of w/ends. Having reviewed prospectuses, I decided to explore other courses further by requesting example modules, as it important to have some feel for the quality of the materials you are to work from. I focused on Premier, Kevala and College of Natural Nutrition - as these are genuinely distance learning, apart from in the last year where a certain number of hours are needed in supervised clinical practice. The CNN would not send me an example module, which I didnt feel was particularly helpful (although they did point out their refund policy if dissatsifed, but this doesnt apply to the Chemistry modules which I would have to do first, so too risky and investment of money and time!).

Also, the total three (ish) years with CNN amounts to over £5,500 where as Kevala and Premier are in the region of £2,000. I have decided to join Kevala and have now almost completed my first modeul of the Foundation year.

Good luck with whichever you choose.

Karen.

Apologies, the note above is incorrecct. I have never contacted CNN, the college I am referring to is The College of Natural Therapy, High Pealk.

Good luck
