Hullo!
I'm doing ok with my case studies but have real difficulties thinking up lifestyle changes for my clients. Everyone gets the obligatory "drink 2 litres of water a day" tip, but then I have a hard time thinking of others to suggest. I know we aren't allowed to make specific suggestions like go take some Vit e supplements, but what can you tell someone that has a real healthy diet and seems to be doing everything right?

I have a real hard time with this.
....thanks.....K[&:]

RE: Lifestyle help!!

Introduce some form of exercise into daily routine?

Take up some form of meditation/exercise for relaxation/destressing?

RE: Lifestyle help!!

What course are you on - are you helping people out with any specifiv complaints? Obviously if you're not a notritionist you can't say take x, y and z, but you are able to provide articles and information about x for treating y.. do if you have any articles you could copy for the client, as long as you don't prescribe it, you can say I've read an article and it says x may help you.. could be worth talking to the doc about it kinda thing. If it's say a back problem, you can look at the ergonomics where they work, do they sit correctly at the pc, would yoga or exercise help? Do they do any exercise? Do they do anything which may aggravate their presenting conditions?

One that seems to come up again and again is clients with a painful neck and shoulders. It's amazing how many of them are sleeping on two or more pillows or on a very flat pillow and as soon as I suggest they use a pillow which keeps their head in a neutral position, they can't believe the difference.

RE: Lifestyle help!!

Thanks for the help guys. I'm on a reflexology course. My case study has an underactive thyroid and is more knowledgeable about the topic than I am. She is incredibly healthy and follows the right diet minding her goitergens. She does yoga and walking, and is always reading more books about her health. SHe's away on a macrobiotic holiday at the moment. Sometimes I feel I'm suggesting things tha are a little redundant for her .

This is all a learning curve and maybe I'll get better in the future case studies. Thanks for the good tips

K
