Hello all,has anyone ever done a holistic courses by studying at home?? and if so,are they any good? I am trying to find an aromatherapy course(which I dont have to take a loan out for!!) in the Gtr Manchester area, but one that I found is very expensive at nearly £600. So I was just wondering if distance learning courses are any good.Other holistic courses I have done have been at a local FE College, but aromatherapy never starts because of lack of interest:mad:. Any advice appreciated, cheers xx
Well you may have to consider "blended" learning courses. The one I'm considering is run by Thames Valley University. I've been doing their Foundation Degree in Complementary Approaches to Health at my local college, but I can't afford it (the time to go and the money it costs!), so I'm considering doing it on a distance basis. You have to attend workshops at their campus in Ealing about once a month on a Saturday, which isn't too bad for me in Rugby, but may be a bit much for you.
The OU courses are much more expensive.
blended learning is great, but I dont think learning holistic therapy on a purely distance learning basis is any good, unless there is a practical element.
good luck with your studies
Cheers for that idea Chris, I will have to ask at my local colleges hadnt heard of blended learning. Although I had thought myself that learning a therapy by 'distance' isnt the best really due to its 'practical' nature as fasciaman says. Thanks for replies, I will keep searching for a course x
Hi Rache,
What other holistic courses have you done? I came across an aromatherapy course in the North West a few months back which I was considering doing. I'll have a look around and let you know if I find it again.
