Hi all,
I am looking for advice on Nutritional Therapy courses. I am an avid reader of Patrick Holford book's among others and having a big interest in this for many years have decided this would be a great career change for me. Having already just completed and passed a PTTLS in Lecturing for Adult Learners, I am finding it very hard to continue to study to become a Full time Lecturer without doing a course fulltime as the support is just not there. After alot of soul searching I realise this subject inspires me and I find so very interesting. But like most people, I am a mature student, albeit working fulltime, so want the best value for money whilst fitting in with a busy working life. I see the price of the Dip ION is on the expensive side, whilst the one at Greenwich Univeristy somewhat less. I am not basing my decision just on money, but as alot of mature students like myself out there, its hard to juggle a work life balance whilst studying and paying for a private course.
Those of you who are currently practicing Nutritional Therapists, or currently studying for their Diploma, Degree or MSc I would be very interested to hear from you, to help me make my decision. I have to do a Foundation in Science first, so anyone that has also completed this course too I would be very interested to hear of your experiences, advice and thoughts of the standard of the course.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
Best wishes
chalis
I did foundation ION and am halway thru the Dip in Nutrition.
It has been hard going but that is because I had also started up a Holistic Health centre whereby I rent out rooms to other practitioners which has been hard going.
I will get back to you in better detail, probably better sending a pm but am down in London this w/end doing consultations for the first years so am preparing paperwork/handouts etc at the mo'
Can't wait to finish it as I have people coming in looking for help which I can't give yet.

Thanks very much for your message Patchouli, I look forward to your update. I have been thinking so much about doing the Nutritionist course this last month, it is giving me a buzz now, so I know I am on the right track. To think I can become a Nutritionist have a really fulfilling career is a very nice feeling. I am also thinking about incorporating, hypnotherapy and healing into my work as well. I think there are so many great therapies out there now, that have to the forefront and gaining popularity. There are so many optoins now other than traditional medicine or mixed with it, that I feel we are finally returning to a truely holistic apprach to health and well being in this century. Oh I feel better now i've said that

Hi Chalis
Like you, I work full time and had an interest in Nutrition (and am a mature student!). I searched everywhere to find a course that suited me. I am in my second year of a 3 year Nutrition Diploma course with CNM, The College Of Naturopathic Medicine.
They offer full time (1 day a week), Weekend or evening courses and have colleges all over the country. They are not cheap but with it can be managed with a Student Development Loan.
Take a look at their website, it might help.
Regards
Jeff
