Hi

I applied to two colleges for this course and have managed to get accepted on both. Now I don't know which one to choose. After having an interview at one college I got the impression this course is very intense and I don't know if the longer course (most expensive) is better to past the exams. Obviously I want to go for the cheapest but the difference in length is concerns me.

College 1 is 5pm - 9pm for 18 wks, more expensive easier to get to
College 2 is 7.30-9.30am for 16 wks. cheaper and slightly further away.

As you can see college 1 is double in length of college 2. I don't want to go for the cheaper if we don't cover enough stuff in 2 hours.

Any ideas?

thanks

Jade

Hello Jade

I completed this course in May this year. I would definitely go for the longer course. My course lasted from the beginning of September 2005 - end of May 2006. I found that I had just started getting my confidence doing peoples nails, especially the nail enhancements, and the course finished.I'd just got to the stage where I was looking forward to taking clients and had gotten rid of my nerves and it ended and I felt a bit lost.It could be better to go for the longer course.

However, more importantly thananything else, make sure that your tutor knows her (or his) stuff, especially with the nail enhancements, ask lots of questions e.g. how long have they done nails professionally? Which system do they specialise in? Have they worked in a salon?Where did they do their training and how long did it take them? Think of as many questions as you can and don't be afraid to ask.

On my course I got the impression that the tutor wasn't actually very good at Acrylic nails herself as she had done Silk for 8 years. I felt that she was ok explaining the basics but when it came to any problems, and you will get loads, she didn't have a clue.

Also see if you can get to know anyone who went on the courses last year and see what they think.

I hope this gives a few pointers 'cause I wish I'd had the benefit of hindsight before I started. Good Luck.

Susan

Sorry Jade

I see now that you only mention doing the manicure & pedicure and not the nail enhancements. Even so what I said still applies. Take your time if you can and get a good tutor!

thanks for that susan

I plan on doing the nail enhancements after, so want a good grounding in the basics first
