Hi, I was wondering where my (soon to be-fingers crossed) massage qualification can take me. I am due to complete the Diploma in Holistic massage at any time, (ITEC) and am hoping to start hot stones, and sports massage in september. I currently work full time teaching at a dental school, but would like to do as much massage stuff at evenings and weekends to gain experience until I am in a position to give up my current job.
can anyone give me advice on where I can start?! I don't mind volunteering, and also as I have my teaching qualification, would any training providers be prepared to take me on to help teach the A&P side of things as this is what I teach for my current job. (am i right in thinking I would need more experiance in practical massage before I could teach that)

Also a lot of massage jobs advertised are on cruise ships-does anyone have any experience of this they could share?
Many Thanks!:)

I have a young friend who did cruise work a couple of years ago. She had to be multi-talented, so did beauty therapy too - waxing, makeup, massage, hot stones, IHM, reflexology. She worked out of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. Did it for two summer seasons and then settled in her home country of Portugal. It was very hard work, but she is only 27 so coped really well. Sadly, even though the ships called in at some fairly exotic locations, she rarely got the opportunity of seeing them herself.

If you want to teach, it may be a good idea to talk to some of the course providers to see what you could do - have you tried your local FE college?
