I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this so have posted it in the therapies section too but I've been thinking about my future (I'm 28) been married for 1 year, always worked in an office and been quite career minded but for the last 6-12 months I've been thinking about having kids....
Now we can't afford to have them for a while yet but I know I don't want to go back to work after having them as I want to spend as much time with them as possible but this is where I need your help... not many people can afford to do this and I'm one of them, so what I would like to do is start learning 1 or 2 therapies to earn me abit of extra money as I so enjoy them.
So my question is, what is best to start off with.... Reflexology is quite complex and I get the feeling you should really learn about anatomy first??? Well anyway any thoughts would be good.
Thanks for reading this

RE: Learning about therapies
Hi Gail,
Firstly, I find people often feel they cannot afford to have kids but my sister had 3 and her husband does not earn a fortune. A collegue of mine is having one and is already £45k in debt from bad spending habits. I would say that if it feels right then do it, you will find a way.
Great idea about doing therapies for extra money while you're off. Like you I have worked in an office for nearly 5 yrs, previously in hotels for 10 so I'm ready to leave the rat race. I am looking to train up to get out.
I am currently doing reflexology and am starting Itec which obviously needs the A&P. You could try AoR that teaches the routine and A&P alongside over a year. It is not that complex as long as you can relate the human body onto the feet, you'll be suprised how quickly you get a 'feel' for it (LoL). I looked to reflexology because you can travel easily without taking those stupidly heavy massage tables.
Likewise IHM, and both are non-invasive! I am uneasy about people having to take their clothes off! This course seems to be about 3-4 mths long and I hope to do it next year. I did an intro course and have yet to find someone who does not appreciate you massaging their head.
Hope that helps - best of luck!
Russell
