RE: Is the future really about getting a degree?

Hi Positive Ligt

I'm not so sure that degrees are ' the be all and end all'. I know that at Derby Uni, the reflexology content of the degree course is AoR reflexology - so you could enroll on one of their courses and get the same knowlege. Similarly I know that some universities us the IFPA course for aromatherapy.

It sounds perverse, but I have never been asked, either by clients or by GP's who I work with, where I qualified or what qualifications I have.

I do think good training is essential, and also with looming regulations the correct awarding bodies is a must..... but a degree - not particularly.

Health & happiness

I agree with Waywood - yes be properly qualified, know your stuff and insurance etc... but a degree I personally don't think is all that necessary.

The most successful people I know don't have degrees or are not using their degree for their current job.

I guess it depends where you want to end up and what you want to do. I work for the NHS and the people who currently carry out complementary therapies don't have degrees but are properly qualified.

At the end of the day you have to do what feels right for you and trust that this is your correct way forward.

Good Luck in whatever you decide to do
