Hi there,
I am looking to hear from anyone who has taken the 6 week intensive personal trainer diploma by The Training Room.
I am thinking of joining this course in Aug 2010.
What was it like on the course?
What about the course material?
What about course instructors?
What about assessments practical/theory?
What about looking for a job after you'd finished the course?
Thanks for your time in advance.
Take care,
Andrew
Hey there man,
Im just wondering if you got any feedback for this question you posted?
Im looking to do the course in November but not entirely sure if I should go for it or not. It seems really good to me but I spoke to a fitness instructor today and he said going to college would be the best course of action to get into this type of career.
I dont have the time for college though as my dad is trying to get me offshore and it would upset him if I said I was going to college for this. Plus he has already paid for a lot of my training for offshore.
The training room course is also quite expensive, but I think its worth it. Would appreciate your comments.
Thanks.
Don't choose The Training Room!!
I wouldn't choose The Training Room!!
My friend did the part time course at Leeds and he said the teaching wasn't that great..
I signed up for a different academy and did the 6 week intensive training... The first tutor was good he really helped us all but then we got a different tutor, we eventually found out that the tutor had NO experience in the industry, he's never worked in a gym and he wasn't even qualified to teach!! considering people are paying so much for a course you would expect the people to be qualified!!
The person is still working for the company as a lead tutor!!
The material was rushed through.. we were given 3 books which we had to read through in our own time, there was lots of errors and pages were out of order..
They took our CV's in and emailed them to the companies, but thats all they do.. which you can do yourself
I wouldn't recommend The Training Room to anyone, and i know my friend and the people on my course wouldn't either!
I've heard YMCA are good!
Hey has anyone got back to you two about the course or have you done it at all? I am in the middle of it now and I would thoroughly recommend it. Its not cheap to do of course, but these days what is?
I have found the course to be thoroughly intensive and you really learn so much. I have heard some bad things of course too, but I have not found those comments to be true on the course I am doing. The instructors answer every single question we have asked them, be it something directly related to the topic of discussion or something way off the mark related to fitness in some random way. They have found ways to make sure everyone understands everything whatever their level of understanding pre course and I really can't recommend it enough. Of course I haven't done my exams quite yet, and obviously don't have a job yet either and I know it won't be easy because jobs aren't easy to come by right now, but at least Ill be in a field I love and streets ahead of others with the extra bits of qualifications this course gives you.
If you have done the course please do post Id be interested to know from others who have finished. I know there are probably some academies on this course that aren't as good as the one I am on so I'm sure its not all positive stories!

Hi, My son took the course in August 2011 despite our reservations. However, he found it to be very intensive, the trainers very professional and he thoroughly enjoyed it although of course it was hard work. The only niggles we have with this company is that they try to get you to pay over a long period in order to extract as much money as possible with their high rate interest charges. So, if you can pay upfront or beg or borrow from friends and family, this is the best way to go. Further to this, they charge you for paying by debit or credit card and they won't let you pay by paypal because they incur charges! Try to negotiate...I did and they waived the charge because I implied my son wouldn't be taking the course otherwise. The other problem was that they imply that they help you find a job...when in reality there is just one girl who supposedly arranges interviews for you. We had to chase her to do anything and I was informed by the Finance Administrator, Ray Liddiard that they couldn't possibly keep track of every student who was in or out of employment! Considering the amount of money they must be making I would have thought they would have employed more office staff..but then that would cost them more money and I don't think their intention is to find the students jobs..just to get them in and out and take the money! However, to end on a positive note my son has secured his dream job and is now working as a personal trainer, but through his own efforts! He has changed his life in 6 months..so it can be done. Good luck to you all!
Hi,
Training Room is a good quality company, however you do pay a lot for their services and in the modern market you can find far more cost effective companies with the same level of service e.g. Origym Centre of Excellence - is a company I would recommend. They are half the price for the same qualifications and 0% interest payment structures plus the service is good, which is always important!
