Hi, the foot maps we are using for our itex reflexology are different from the ones in the louise tucker book. But the exam papers i have seen use these. This means that if i answer a question on the location of a reflex from my map i will get it wrong.

My teacher has said that her foot maps have been approved by itec, but i can't imagine itec qriting a seperate exam paper for us.

Any ideas, i have emailed itec and got no reply.

There are about ten differences on our foot maps to the louise tucker/itec ones.

Hello
Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but this is very worrying isn't it.
I am thinking of taking an ITEC Reflexology Course and this would definitely throw me.
I wonder where your tutor got her Chart from? You're right to worry, particularly as ITEC exam papers always throw in a sneaky question - you won't know where you are.
I'll be interested to hear if ITEC reply to your email. Perhaps you could try and ring them if you don't hear anything.
Regards
Rachel

Hi

Louise Tucker foot maps are the bible to ITEC, all answers come from the book you must know her foot maps and no one else once you are qualified its a different story. I'm doing ITEC reflexology at the moment and I'm only looking at the Louise Tucker book.

Hi there,

I agree with Lorraine, stick with Louise Tucker, just remember the A&P arguments as to the accuracy of the content!

In our class we are now on the second video which has a different routine in it, apparantly our tutor will ask us which one we prefer and will then inform Itec as to the routine to judge us against.

Oh woe is the life of students!

Well here's the story and it's a bit weird, i got a reply from Itec and they said that if our foot maps were passed by Itec then they are ok. So i replied that for instance on our foot maps the reflex for the adrenals are right above the kidneys but on the louise tucker book they are up and off to the side of the kidney's. Itec's reply...

The adrenals are above the kidneys on the foot.

Which means that my footmap is right and all of yours is wrong!!![:@]

This doesn't make any sense. Incidentaly the replies from Itec where barely a sentance long!

Typical ITEC, I barely ever get any sense out of them. We have been told to use the Louise Tucker books purely for the course and the exam. In real life apply commonsense and find a map we like. For our case studies we can use different foot maps and refer to different maps, because the Louise Tucker one is a bit scant, but when it comes to the exam stick with ITEC's favourite Louise Tucker.

RE: Foot Maps Itec Reflexology

For the exam paper you would have to know where Louise Tucker has the reflex points which is in chapter 5. Just read and memorize and you will be fine. ITEC is like your driving test!! how many of us still do mirror signal manoeuvre.

Hi Russ I find that really odd what your tutor said, the first thing our examiner said to us in holistic massage was I dont know your routine so dont worry if you dont do it in the right order! and we had students from another class in our exam who were doing a different routine.

Hi Russ

Which videos are these, I've seen a couple of the "ITEC" ones and they have been so different. One was ok, the other was just a foot massage. Lorraine is right, there is no way the examiner will know your routine, there are so many ways of doing reflexology. They will be looking for confidence, appropriate techniques and knowledge of the reflexes.

Hi all,
I`m doing itec reflexology and reading all of your posts I`m confused[sm=confused-smiley-012.gif]We are using "reflexology a practical approach" by vicki putman! The routine we are doing is one our tutor has always taught but reading the book there are some differences .We are using the bayly map,in our book though we have a chart in the back and this is different again.A little worried now about wether what we are doing is ok for the exam?????

RE: Foot Maps Itec Reflexology

You see the problem i have is that we aren't allowed to use the louise tucker map in class or in case srudies! Our tutor says we should answer our written multi choice exam on her maps! She doesn't seem to be able to see that this could mean that we will get answer wrong!

i sent another email to itec and explained in detail the difference between my adrenal reflex and tuckers, saying that tuckers is under the space between the big and second toe and that mine is between the second and third toe, connexted to the kidney!

So we'll see what they say,

So far what i have gotten from ITEC is that i should follow the foot maps my teacher gave me!

Hi Frater

Have a look on the past exam papers forum, the ITEC answers are at the bottom of the questions (and we all know how right the ITEC answers are;)) I would go by those answers, just make sure by your exam you know them. Just remember when you have your certificate you can go by what ever foot maps you like.

Don't know if this will help or make things worse but here goes,

We were told that before the PRACTICAL our tutor will show our examiner the foot maps we are working from, and she will ask questions of us relevent to that map.

As for the THEORY exam you should work from the Louise tucker DESCRIPTIONS starting on page 44. the descriptions under "where is it" for each reflex is what the questions in THEORY are based on.

On the Louise tucker map the Solar plexus looks like it sits just BELOW the Diaphragm line,
but in the description of "where is it", It says it is "ON the centre of the diaphragm line, overlapping with the diaphragm reflex"
Hope this helps[&:]

RE: Foot Maps Itec Reflexology

You really need to clear this up.. I did my Reflexology with the AOR and this was how it worked..

You did your paper and had to mark where on the foot you thought the reflex point to be. Now, as you know there are hundreds of foot maps out there, so with the exam papers, my tutor had to inclue a copy of the foot map which we worked to on the course. The markers would then use that as a guideline for marking that section of the paper.

Now if it's the same system you're fine, if not, you need to get all this clarified with your tutor.

Hi!

We also have different foot maps than the louise tucker book. Our tutor infromed us that she will enclose a copy of our foot maps for itec to use in marking. She said not to worry as she also did this last year and most of the class got credit's and distinctions.

Hope that helps

Hi, I just read this post from last year and I was wondering how you all did in your exams when you took them (and what answers did you give - Louise Tucker's or the "proper" ones!! I am doing my exam in May so would like to know what to aim for!!!
