Hello all,
I am stuck on 1 question and it's getting on my nerves!! [:@]
"Give a brief explanation on the fluid balance and how this is affected by diet?"
I've looked everywhere and I just can't find a simple answer!
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Sian
RE: Digestion question
The way I look at it is that water is a vital part of the bodies composition. The percentage varies on the individual depending on muscle/fat ratio (40-70% I think). Under normal conditions the body balances water content but doesn't store it, therefore what goes in must come out. If however there is a high output and not enough input the body will become dehydrated (the particular effect on the digestive system is constipation). Generally the average person who isn't terribly active needs between 2 and 3 litre of fluids per day, 1 litre of which is obtained from food sources.
These are only my thoughts, I'm sure someone will have an easy answer.
