Hi there all
It seems to have gone very quiet on this site!
Being a huge worrier and being necessity organised I would like some tips for revising and keeping up with the volume of info on the ITEC holistic massage course.
Iam doing it one eve per week started in Sept and will finish June and exam will be in July. Iam less concerned about the business and practical side as the theory A&P is terrifying me.
Would be really grateful for any coping stratergies as currently reveiwing stuff daily and yet am struggling to answer the questions that i have found on this site on past papers.
Did ok in first class test last week as got 34 out of 50 for the skin questions. This week really struggling to learn the functions of the cell yet can name the majority of the structure.
Does anyone doing this course fancy having a virtual study buddy?
Thanks in advance
RE: Revision
I hated doing the cell, but for all my revision made my own notes with rhymns and anagrams etc to help me remember.
I don't know if this will help, as everyone looks at things differently, but these are my revision notes.
Make a word using the key letters for function: RMGERMS therefore I used RemeMber GERMS as my key
R espiration
M ovement
G rowth
E xcretion
R eproduction
M etabolism
S ensitivity
When revising initially, I stuck with one subject eg Histology and made revision notes and then kept rewriting them until I could do it blindfolded. I didn't move on until I knew it.
Hope this help, it does seem a bit daunting to begin with, but eventually it will all click!

RE: Revision
HI
I have justed started my course two weeks ago too (I am doing Itec level 2 in beauty specialist. I find the whole a&p not only scary but really dauting!!
I did my first test too on saturday and got 9 and a half out of 10 but it was easy as it was business with a bit of skin disorders but for next week we have to do two assignments plus learn the cell (functions and labelled diagram) plus all the tissues and mitosis.
I am scared to death there seems to be quite a lot to learn. But I have found writing everything on little cards and highlighting the MAIN words quite helpful. When you are writing it out you have to concentrate what you are writing and it tends to stick in my mind.
Good luck with your test and stuff - in some ways its a good thing to have a test every week as it forces you to learn everything slowly rather trying to learn the bulk of it in one go is okay but trying to do tests and two assignments when you work full time is really difficult!
I must say though that the volume of work out teacher goes through is at a really fast rate!
Good luck
RE: Revision
Hi, that is just how I felt last Sept when I started my ITEC AP&M but passed with credits in July.
I used the Louise Tucker A&P book as I was told it was all you need to get through and it worked well.
I am now on my ITEC Reflexology, take the exam in July and good old Louise Tucker has a Refelology book and yet again I have been told she is all I need.
The books are really easy to understand and break everything down for you into chapter size chunks for easy pick and put down reading.
Good luck, Lou xx
RE: Revision
Hi there,
I used MRS GERM.
Louise Tucker is God to Itec so just read her book.
On trains and crowded tubes it's a bit inconvenient, so I bought 5"x3" file cards and wrote on them. Photocopy the pictures from A&P books and stick them on, even better if they are in colour!
Hopefully you should have been given the Itec syllabus which lists what you need to know in each subject. Use that as a guide and don't worry about the detail some teachers go into.
Best of luck,
Russell
