The UFO phenomenon (anything is a U-F-O whilst not identified) continues:
I think there's ambiguity here about what the flying lights may be. Even Nick Pope goes for the idea that they're Chinese Lanterns. And this form of the UFO phenomenon, of very many similar lights, is to my knowledge fairly recent, from about the time that Chinese Lanterns became popular in Europe.
However, there are always people who love to put forward so-called explanations. The article contains two or three other "explanations" as well. What if they really were "as big as a house"? This, if we accept it from an apparently intelligent witness, tends to point more to typical UFO behaviour, as they do indeed tend to shoot off at immense speeds:
'After that, seven more arrived and weaved through the crowd of lights like strange kinds of aircraft. After five minutes of moving around, they hung in the air for a second then shot off into the sky and disappeared.'
The way that reads to me is just not what Lanterns would do.

Hiya V, I've just come on and searched orange light ufos, because I'm sure there's been discusions before but as this is most recent and no reply I thought I'd add here
I was in my garden last Satuday night with 3 friends and we saw just this, two bright orange lights, quite large with a sort of greeny/bluey glow around them, the moved past slowly making no noise them seemed to speed up and head off in another direction towards liverpool...we where all gob smacked as we watched them until they where only pin pricks of light...and then we could of kicked ourself as no one thought on to grab their phone and try and film or photo it:(
Whatever they where it was great to watch, but one thing for sure, they certainly didn't look like chinese lanterns
xxx
No, they don't at all sound like lanterns.
There is a general purpose UFO thread BTW.

Well here is what I posted the other day.....Have a read if you like
Location of Sighting: Watnall Nottinghamshire
Date of Sighting: 17th August 2009
Time: 9.15 pm
Witness Name: Deanna, Darryl, Rachel, Brett
Witness Statement: Brett was leaving my house last night, to nip back home for something, he’d only got out to the gate and came rushing back in- telling us to come and look at this!
We got to the gate, and above in the sky was a orange mass, like a ball of fire( its the best way to explain),
It was travelling quite fast but smooth and silent- not a sound at all. It went upwards and as it got a certain height, it kind of stopped, waited a bit, then carried on. I shouted at Brett to fetch a camera and it then kinds turned towards us, I even grabbed Rachel’s arm as I thought it was coming at me.
Then it turned back round and carried on in the original direction it was travelling. After about 30 seconds it kind of just dimmed, then lit then dimmed again until it just went.(dimmed to nothing)
And it was gone!
We are all pleased to of seen it. We believe we have seen our first UFO….Yeah.
uk ufo website.
now I don't know if this was a total coicidence or not, but last year I had 3 chinese lanterns, as my birthday is mid June and my son wanted to see them, we decided to light them when it was just starting to dim, so pretty light.
Anyhow, we lit them watched them zoom off. About 10 minutes later I decided to ring my friend who lives 3 miles away, I couldn't hear her very well as their was a police helicopter flying over and it hovered for a good ten minutes.
We sat very quietly in the living room wondering if we had caused the helicopter to come out.
Hi Dee,
By definition, that's a UFO alright.
Maybe one day I'll get a friend of mine to again tell me the details of just one UFO he has seen - right over the city of Coventry. It was airship-shaped, but moved fast in different directions. Typical Spielberg-stuff in appearance, with great detail to be seen, flashing lights, metallic parts, and this was all low, very low over some streets. Then it zoomed off. Like all my pals, they never officially report these things (and I think that's important, as how many go unreported?) because they know it'll do no good, but might just make them a media laughing-stock.
I also lived in Krakow, Poland, once. It's a city in a depression with hills around. I didn't know, but glowing balls of light flew over the city for hours (while I was doing an occult ritual actually! ). Next day, the local paper had it front-page. People in the hills had watched the lights zoom in and out of Krakow or 'Cracow', and one in our street flew so low between buildings that people fell off their bikes in shock.

Hiya - just wanted to add a quick reply to this on behalf of my OH - some members may have seen my earlier posts on UFOs following the wind turbine incident - mentioning that we seem to be in an area with quite high activity.
Anyway back to this post - 2 weeks ago (11th Aug) he was in town at about 10.55 (not coming out of a pub either!!) and looked up to see first 5 orange lights- they were as bright as street lights and didn't flicker - in a group moving accross the sky and then another 2 which quickly sped up and joined the other 5. They were moving quietly and at a steady speed - and contrary to views on Chinese lanterns - were moving against the wind. He arrived home about 20-25 mins later and we went outside to have a look at the sky and were met with the sound of a military helicopter - which seems to be a regular occurrence following local sightings - and this was followed by a low-level military jet in exactly that area.
We waited before posting to see if there was anything in the local paper - but nothing to add.

cheers venetian...whenever i mention this to people they say, " yeah yeah." But I so know what i saw!
And after much research into the chinese lantern theory to explaning these lights, well I can second Wispy Misty in saying that it was definetly not going with the wind!!!
Yeah...I have seen a UFO.
