Oh silly me! I put a couple of camera batteries in the recharger hours ago and was puzzled that the red light hadn't turned green. When I checked I found I'd put them in back to front. DOH! Does anyone know if this means I've ruined them or will they be OK?

RE: Recharging batteries - a query

I'm not an expert, but when I did this I didn't ruin the batteries, they simply didn't charge. I turned them around to the right position and they were fine.
Hope that helps!

I'm sure that it means that simply nothing happened. You'll find everything OK when you've done it correctly.

No, it seems they are indeed ****ed! I had them charging the right way round all night and they haven't taken the charge at all. Luckily I have two others but will have to replace the ones that don't work now!

Thanks for your input anyway.

From wikipedia:

Reverse charging
Reverse charging is when a rechargeable battery is recharged with its polarity reversed. Reverse charging can occur under a number of circumstances, the two most important being:

When a battery is incorrectly inserted into a <a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="charger">charger.
When multiple batteries are used in series in a device. When one battery completely discharges ahead of the rest, the other batteries in series may force the discharged battery to discharge to below zero voltage.
It can cause damage to the battery.
