RE: New thinking on planets

A most widely accepted version (by the scientific commutity) of the creation of the moon is as follows. When the earth was young a Mars size object crashed into it. The molten iron core then continued to the center of the newly formed earth and the debris coaleased slowly into the our moon.
This is backed up by the evidence of relatives elements of the earth and moon.

There are three other theories of creation, that I have heard of. Fisson theory, capture and regular planet formation.

Also the moon is much smaller than Venus, it is more comparable to Pluto in size.

This is the first time I've ever heard of the earth having two moons, where did you find this out?

As to Pluto. The world is a changing place and so is the universe and are view of it. Years ago the sun was believed to be a planet. The refining and updating of our knowledge can be seen as a positive and logical step.

The asteriod belt probably exists due to its nature as a lagrange point, so is unlikely to form into a planet.
