(Meaning Wednesday.) Let's hope it's clear at night.

Google's homepage has a nice play on it.

Perseid meteor showers

If you go to Google and click on the Google icon/banner [because it won't copy here]:

you'll get a results page. This was at the top when I looked a while ago:

but there are many others now, some more recent, where there will surely be videos to view.

That helps. So we look just under the "W"-shaped constellation, Casseiopia.

But I've a feeling I'll be overcast-in....

I'll be out there, though they say the moons current size may hinder the event.

Walked out of a footie game and not a star in sight - as per usual for this annual event!

We sat in deckchairs in our garden (near Kinross) at 2330 last night and were engrossed for around 40 minutes - I swear you could hear them all going 'zip' as they went across the sky. If it is clear again tonight, we'll do it again.

Myself and family started to watch the sky last night and at first we couldn't see any, but I did notice that there was more stars than usual. After staring at a them for a little while, I noticed that these extra stars were actually moving across the sky and they were part of the shower.

We did see a few good shooting stars, quite a beautiful sight it was.

Sounds brilliant!

I had never ever seen a shooting star before - and last night I saw three!! Not exactly the spectacular meteor shower that was billed, but I am well pleased!

You have to make a wish when you see a shooting star..

Just about to go into my garden with lafuma chair and blanket and lay back and watch the heavens. Saw lots last year. Last night was too cloudy so I didn't bother. I'm sure I'll see something tonight and get my wishes in.

Binah, I truely believe in this, the day before I met my hubby, I wished I could find a good boyfriend who I'd have a lasting relationship with.......met my hubby the next day and we've been together for 20 years now.

Glad your wish came true Angel - I won't ask what your three wishes were the other night.

I was hoping to make a wish last night - got myself really comfortable in my chair with a rug on top and then the cat came to add additional warmth. There were still too many clouds as I gazed towards the heavens - I saw some satellites but gave up on the Perseids Meteor Shower as visibility of the stars was not quite good enough.

yep - me neither... had me window open and looking up at sort of clear sky last night till I fell asleep:025:. Any chance to see it tonight? Still hopeful :022: even with my neck slightly twisted...
When I was child I used to see them a lot - but it was in countryside - outside cloudy UK... Cities could switch the lights off at least for 1 hour so we could see a bit more and even save energy... maybe next year

Just my add on: everytime I saw one I wish something nice to come true too - I absolutely forgot about that - thanks for mentioning it!

Each year, it's only maybe a 36 hour thing. You could see them Tuesday and Wednesday night. 🙂

I remember the first time I went to North Carolina(NC). I arrived at Atlanta airport, drove to where I was staying in NC. When I got out of the car, I had never seen so any stars in the sky and within a few seconds on I saw a shooting star. It was then I realised how much light polution we have in the UK.

I've never in the world seen the Milky Way as you can in the mountains of Afghanistan. (No clouds, high altitude so less air distortion, zero artificial light.) You can see its whole shape clearly, the 'holes' in it and the outline which is not regular. It glows. Troops and reporters out there say the same.
