Large Full Moon

Celia..you took the words right out of my mouth....I noticed the tsunami alert as well.

On that weekend i am on a residential weekend with the level one counselling course I am on, we don't know exactly what will be happening on there as the tutors are keeping schtum in case we "put the barriers up". My friend had noticed thes moon occuring at the same time as this weekend event. I wonder what it might draw out or hilight.

Looks like it will be a fantastic night sky though.

Just logged on and heard about what happened in Japan. Is it the effect of the moon?

I think the thing about astrological cosmic events as far as I understand is that events can have shorter term effects and longer term effects. So the full moon might have an effect, which may be for a few days, but the long term effects are from the outer planets.

well the answer is just in a week or so....it isnt easy to admit it but Im nervous. either there s too much info at all times about everything & everywhere on the planet in this century or the Earth is indeed going through some changes.

either way this is stressing me, like everybody else I feel powerless and cant watch the TV news without crying. I hate to say, but Im glad I dont have kids to obsess about. I even sometimes wonder why I was sent on this planet! ok, self pity and selfishness here, sorry. I think I undertsand fully now why people in natural disasters and famine-prone places cant be atheists or cynical, you just become spiritual when faced with The End.

gosh I apologize for my dark mood tonight, I usually dont feel that bad but the news over Japan and nuclear risks in general are overwhelming me.

I think you are taking this too seriously. Obviously what has happened in Japan is a serious situation and my heart goes out to the Japanese people.

But life is a cycle and change is constant. There will always be disasters, it's the nature of the tectonic plates and the entire universe. Life by its nature cannot be static or fixed (like pictures from the JW's Watchtower magazine, lol). We have been for so long been brainwashed by various religious belief systems to believe that God/s or the angels or whatever are going to scoop us up and look after us; or that if we "sin" then catastrophe will be sent in avengement, and that our souls will burn in hell.

Look at history, there has been a countless myriad of disasters - climate and geologically speaking. Not forgetting ecological destruction, famine etc. But we are still here, life carries on. All my life (40 odd years) I've been told that we are all going to die from:

*Infectious plagues (in the 80's it was said that every family in the UK would have someone in it that was suffering from AIDS)
*The coming back of the ice age
*Then it's global warming
*CJD from meat
*Chemicals
*Nuclear war
*Meteorite strike
*Solar flares from the Sun
*Alien invasion
*Magnetic field reversal (that is an interesting one)
*Notrodemus's predictions - Col. Gadaffi was going to invade Europe (and that aliens were going to land on the lawn of the White House, yes published books did have this crap in it)
*Books that I read in the 1970's that oil and other raw materials were going to be gone by 2011.......list is endless and I have to get back to my business in a mo.

What I'm trying to say in that we as a species need to be more eco-sustainable, more caring of each other, and more responsive to the thing we try to deny - change. If there is a common factor that runs through humanity and binds us together - love!

well that is exactly why I am affected by what is happening in Japan. Sorry but I think you misunderstood me or I badly explained myself .

Yes I know that life isnt static and change IS life and Death is change. I believe it, feel it, live it, I really dont feel I need to be reminded of the concept of the constant nature of danger and risks that naturally belong to life on Earth (or selwhere else ).

But that doesnt stop me from feeling a tiny portion of the pain that the tsunami survivors are feeling right now, or the terror and pain that struck those not lucky to have survived. and I feel quite normal for having a bit of compassion. Sorry if I sound defensive but being struck by the horror what what is going on there isnt for me the proof that one clings on a fixed state of things and life. I really dont think being detached and blasé is the way to deal with such things, apart from maybe trying to preserve one's emotions from being affected. and I am not implying that that is how you feel!

Also, my depressed state last night was a lot to do withapprenhension and disbelief at the lies that are being told everyday on the media and that people belive and then cling onto aggressively sometimes: namely that nucelar power is safe.

Hear this, yesterday main TV news in France: Japan's explosion was SAFE, no dangerous radiation came out of it, not many people have been told to move away from the proximity of the plant. (the BBC news: on the first day after the tsunami, radiation levels were recorded as 900 times above the normal one. and a perimetre of 60 km - now 300km - around the plant was a no-go area).

As if this manipulation of information wasnt enough, The Minister of Industry was eager to jump in front of the micros and say, to my disbelief, that what happned in Japan (nucelar wise) was not a catastrophe, but a mere serious national problem!!
thanks goodness, there are other people who got shocked by such a premature and minimilizing statement and challenged him and then today we hear of 2 more nuclear plant explosions leaving the reactors tubes open!! but the Frecnh Tv news commentor once again plays it down and says "reactor meltdown. But it isnt thought to be of any danger". I think I am dreaming when I hear this! Imagine 3 nuclear plants exploding in the UK, me think not that people will think that it's ok.
But France is, with Japan, the densest country in the world as regards to number of nuclear plants: 55!! there are all over France, if 2 or 3 had a problem, all of Europe would be affected. but it is like petrol, in the end, it is power holding onto money and a population deep down too insecure who prefer to deny the risks than measure reality for themselves.
Actually it is very interesting to see how the people the closest to a nuclear site, like the ones in South East France where the Tricastin plant had 2 leaks last summer (and now the surrounding village people must take iodine tablets, prescription sent by the Ministry of Health) are the most adamant that "it's life, one has to deal with it, and anyway we trust the authorities, because this is France".

well now there might be a referendum on nuclear power in France, and just hearing this news is making my day :003:.

I think we have to stop pretending everything is all ok and "as it should be" or some other very convenient wrap-around neo philosophy, and must try to change things.

When facing distastrous risks, and even unravelling real disasters as is the case in Japan (and by extention anywhere on the planet where the wind will travel. Tchernobyl level of radiation has been evaluated at 7, today authorities around the world say that the one in Japan is 6, food for thought), I really feel we have to use a bit of courage and wake up. It s no good being apathic or hiding our faces. If not for us then for nature and the future generations. I dont have children but I have nephews, I have friends with children, and I have pets. For them, not even for me, I want nuclear power to be erased from history. I know I'll wake a volcanoe of protests and moderators' comments here, but it reminds me of what old people talked about.... why in Hungary, Germany, Italy, France, etc most of the population helped the nazis: they didnt believe in what was going on, in the words of a very old but fabulous Hungarian woman survivor: "it's not really their fault, noone wanted to start to even imagine the horror. They prefered to deny it".

now, and again I'll be reprimanded for daring to draw such parallel, the medias are unleashing a battle of opinion manipulations. every channel has a nuclear manager, nuclear lobby director, Minister of Industry who comes to reassure the French population that the situation in Japan cannot, in our wildest dreams, be compared to anything that could happen ever over here. O really? such confidence and everlasting knowledge that puts Mother Nature in a convenient sealed little box, incapable of ever harming Europe.

Has anyone heard the suggestion that HAARP experiments sending extremely powerful sound waves into the Earth have been the cause of some of the earthquakes in recent years? The co-incidence of earth tremors just before several earthquakes as monitored by at least one concerned individual is evidence enough to give plausibility to this theory.

Ive read their Frequently Asked Questions and I understand that they emit high power high frequency "waves" in the ionosphere. By the way, I noticed that NOWHERE it mentions the word "waves" so either Im wrong in using that word - and it is very possible - or they do this on puropse because the word wave has real health implications.

I worry about the wildlife in Alaska, where they have their transmitters. We all have heard of tens of thousands of birds and fish dying unexpectedly overnight...could this cause something like this?

Also, I would like to say that I am VERY surprised at the total absence of posts or threads on this forum regarding the Japanese disaster, and nuclear power in general. I find it hard to understand because I often read messages about praying for such and such people or event/Earth...now that Tokyo residents have started to flee the capital, and even the country, which hasnt happened to any developped country since the Second World War, and that each day brings more uncertainty as to the radioactive situtation there (will people ever be able to return and live healthily? how is this going to evolve? what about the cloud, where will it rain?), I was definitely sure that people would posts many messages on this forum. But no, nothing, nada. Go figure out. Instead we have debates about whether independent and sisterhood-seeking or equality-seeking women aren't something of the past, it leaves me speechless to say the least!

Celia, I do goggle things, like the HAARP organization. It s my own rushed way of replying, as I write: I google the matter.

but Derek and Star, maybe we are more comfortable here having a good laugh then actually wondering if the British media are reporting correctly the situation in Japan.

I post here a link to a more objective news channel and website.

While the Brtish nuclear scientists meet, decide then tell the Britsh media that all is safe in Japan, and they are working on a plan in case there is a reactor meltdown, and also that Tokyo residents are safe, the other European countires and Euronews are telling a different soty. Reactors meltdown has happened, this is a catastrophe looking more and more like Tchernobyl, the Japanese government has never managed to have a control or even proper information about the nuclear plants' safety, in the last 20 YEARS, and especially now. The Japanese governement is in the fog, they dont know what to tell Tokyo people because they do not have the power, the nuclear plants managers do.

In the meantime, European reporters there show the capital streets empty and tell how all the people who could afford it have fled south or abroad, while those who are North/East of the nuclear plants are trapped on the roads: no petrol, no food, broken roads, misleading or no information. Miles of cars with people trapped in them, who desperatly want to flee south to an airport but cannot and wait in -5 degrees with no food supplies.

What really affects me is the distorted information about the whole thing on the internet, tv and especially British TV news channel, which is starting to become a well know phenomenon.

So I am sorry if I reacted angrily to the seemingly absence of care people give here about the historic situation over there, but Sellafiled is one thing, then now scientists coming to brainwash us about the situation being under control there is another.

(the Irish sea is the most radioactive sea in the world, making me wonder about Dubliners and Western+Northen Scotland people's exposure to radiation; a high coincidence of Leukemia in the North Cumbria area and even further out; children having been tested with very high levels of plutonium in their teeth, but the UK Minister of Industry and the Minister of Health deny all this; keeping a reputation and a job being a priority over their country's fate, and the healh of Irish and Norwegian people)

To put your mind at rest, I was not offended by your accusations against me, as someone posting on this forum about what you suggest are trivial matters at this time of such awful catastrophe and suffering. In fact that made me laugh, too, so no apology from you is necessary.

I mentioned people having a laugh. that s not going around accusing people, that is another level which I dont think I want to take seriously (the poking, cheeky remarks here I welcome of course, I was also smiling when you picked up on my "speechless" statement. It is very true, I go on and on and then claim I am speechless! )

however I take seriously the nuclear situation in Japan, and anywhere else...it is hard not to come talking about it on this forum, as here in France chemist stores are nearly looted for iodine tablets, every family has bought some and all day/night long you have special TV health documentaries about the different kinds of cancer and leukemia people usually get from radiation. I dont believe it is a plot to sell iodine as the government wants to put a full stop to the sales, saying it can be very harmful to take iodine without proper check up first (one could have a hyperthyroid or an allergy for example).

It is just that whether you are at work, in the tube, watch tv, walk in the streets with all the magazines covers talking about the cloud coming, or taking a taxi, the only thing people talk about is: WHEN will the cloud come (it will come, this is sure, now how much radiation there'll be we dont know yet. and if there will be some, and if it rains, then rain-prone French regions (West and North) families with babies (young children being the most vulnerable to radiations) will be the first at risks).

there is no avoiding the subject and frankly, I am glad people are maybe taking this too seriously for the taste of foreigners (but same reactions in Germany), I am glad the media dont try bombarding us with filler gossip and sport celebrity "news" to distract us and keep us in check.
