Bore da (Good Morning)

I am delighted that the Welsh language is being kept alive
on HP and that some of you guys that speak the language will post some words and translate for us. I can remember some words from my family (half Welsh).

I was holidaying in Cornwall recently and noticed that some of the old Cornish names are also similar to the Welsh i.e. Pont (Bridge) same in French too. I read whilst in Cornwall that Welsh has more similarities with the Cornish language than other Celtic languages such as Gaelic. Language is such a fascinating thing, well I find it so any way.

Love Binah
xx

Evening

I'm also from South Wales, even though I dont spend much time there anymore I still consider myself Welsh, as for speaking Welsh unfortunately I dont, I know the basics but that is it, as for writing in Welsh I can only just manage English!

Hey everyone.

Just did a post asking if there was anyone from South Wales and then saw this 😀

Been living down in South Wales for 8 years, first in Cardiff and then to Barry. Family are all Welsh and though I was born and brought up in the West Midlands, I see myself as Welsh. Knew that I would move down here permenantly one day as I loved visiting family down here as a child.

Came down here after Uni with my b/f who is now my husband. He's a Yorkshire man and fitted right in down here. Yorkshire and Welsh people are so similar in their friendliness.

Look forward to cahtting to you all! 😀
