Hi All

I am a newbie here but have been reading it for a while and only saw the Ireland thread today. Anyway I have been working for myself doing reflexology and Indian Head Massage mainly in Companies in Dublin. I started out in April of this year and business has been growing and very positive feedback from clients and companies. For the last couple of months(Sept./Oct.) I feel that business has seriously slowed down. My regular clients have cut back and interest has been not good at all. As a result I have been getting really despondant and very down, especially being hard on myself. I always tell people about my business when I meet them and whilst I have been getting lots of 'Would be great in our company' when I get in touch nothing really happens.
Last week and this week I have been picking up the phone and calling companies to see if any interest. Not a lot of interest tbh either.
So what I am looking for is some support, is there any groups in Dublin of therapists that meet up to swap ideas etc???? I love what I do, do not regret it at all but I am finding it really tough at the moment..

Thanks for listening x

Hi there hface,

Sorry but I am in Clare so can't really offer you any advice re Dublin. I know in the company I work, they have got letters etc from people offering on-site massage and they usually get to the bottom of the pile. I do believe that here a lot of work places are so driven to succeed etc that they dont think about the staff, as long as the work is done. I work part-time as a holistic therapist, at home and mobile, took a long time to get a client base. In my day job I do have a few colleagues that come for treatments but I always stress that it has nothing to do with the day job and its me as a therapist treating them. I think that here that a lot of places keep saying the word "all that alternative stuff", where we know that it is holistic or complementary. We have a long way to go.

I do hope that you find a group or some people in Dub where you can network or get together. Do let us know how you are getting on and don't lose heart on your work, it is tough but worth it.

With love & blessings,

Rachel

Hi Hface,

Oh i know, its just so up and down doing what we do.....one week i have a busy week then I have a very quiet week and i get all negative.......

Have you read the book The Secret, with the Law of Attraction etc etc, well to be honest i havent, but in a particularly down frame of mind, the Law of Attraction was mentioned to me by 3 different ways........I really must buy it.....anyway what i am really trying to say is that in our area of work its always going to be tough and I am trying hard to convince myself that yes people do want to come to me and what I am doing is wonderful.....and it works.......since I have been trying this positive thinking approach I have had a steady stream of new clients........have you read some of the old Reflexology forum posts? one of the girls on there i think her name is Tracey had some brilliant ideas for expanding her business....I cant do so much as i am only working part-time around my little boy but her ideas were great...

If you would like to meet up for a chat at all, i live near Drogheda so not too far from Dublin?

Jess x

Hi Jess and Enchanted

Thank you so much for your replies, really appreciated. You know I have been meaning to read 'The Secret'. I definitely believe that by staying positive things will get better. My week was pretty good in the end...worked in two companies and had a private client and I felt great afterwards. My partner commented how happy I was after having a few days work.
Yeah it is up and down but I have no regrets, I love what I do..

it is great to talk to you guys on here, it really makes me feel supported...Thanks a mil x:nature-smiley-008:

Hiya hface,

Great to hear that you had a good week, its a huge boost for you. I often feel disheartened when it's quiet and wonder if I am doing the right thing (since I have a full time job anyway), but you are right in saying that you have no regrets and love what you do. I love what I do as well and I think that is the main thing. Know I am not near but post or pm anytime, we are all here to support each other.

Love & blessings,

Rachel
