Wasn't sure where to post this but thought this forum was as good a place as any.
Does anyone else keep a journal? What type of journal is it? Doe you just write what has happened in your day in it, or is it just about your feelings? Perhaps you write a travel journal, or a healing journal. Do you incorporate art in to your journal or is it just words? Or perhaps creative writing or poems?
Do you find it helpful writing a journal and in what way? Sorry about all the questions - just interested.
I used to write a journal as a kid mainly about what I did each day. It's funny when ready them back that they have no mention of any feelings at all. I started writing one again in my early 20s and tried to write more about feelings and how i viewed things then stopped again and have started again about a month ago. This time round, I have started to include more art into it, using pictures, and different paints and coloured paper then journalling over it. I'm much more excited about journalling now and i'm doing it more often.

I've been writing a journal for years now, it began as a healing journal and a way of 'dumping' information as I am a thinker and my head gets clogged up with lots of info. It has really helped to bring me clarity and more purpose. I also doodle in it, write poetry in it and jot down ideas etc

I love my journal, it really does help me in my life, and it allows me to explore myself and get to know myself. It has helped immensely in helping me to heal and it has brought me understanding too. It helps me to focus my energies too.

Your journal sounds lovely and it's great that you are making it your own. Mine started just as writing; mainly my emotional healing journey, but now I write poetry in it, quotes, doodles and ideas for my paintings and it has taken on a life of its own. I'm just about to finish all the pages in this one, and have another one lined up. I also have a leather pencil case which has glitter pens and other writing implements which I use in my journal.
Happy writing!
Does no-one else keep a journal?
Never really kept a journal - my writing is typical medical person writing and fairly illegible so not sure if writing one would be more irritating than therapeutic. Have thought about typing one on the computer but not a blog as such as it would be for my eyes only.
Wonder if anyone else types one rather than the rather nice handwritten / illustrated ones you both describe?

I did think about typing one, but I actually get a lot of pleasure in writing by hand, and enjoy the whole act of buying the journal, the pens etc. I can also pop it in my bag and when I am in a coffee shop, sometimes I'll sit and write in it.
Maybe the answer is I should work on improving my writing so at least I can re-read it! I write so little by hand these days that its gone from bad to worse 🙁
I don't have a journal Lavendul, but keep thinking I am to put something together for my meditations or poetry, or thoughts of the day I like and and thoughts I have about them..
I would like a really nice flowing fountain pen though, and just can't find the right one (which doesn't cost a queen's ransom anyway:rolleyes:). I bought a fountain pen the other week, but it stops and starts, it interrupts the flow (in more ways than one:()...soooooo, when I find the right writing tools I just might create something...
I am a doodler though, great splodges of allsorts, I was scribbling away mindlessly in a works meeting once someone thought I was taking the minutes...it actually turned into a magnificent peacock style thingy 😀
I've got out of the habit of keeping a journal. Was doing one on my counselling course and also I have kept a dream journal which is amazing - you really get into the habit of remembering not one snippet of a dream, but several, but do it first thing in the morning.
I also keep a journal of my meditations, its my inner/spiritual world I am most interested in.
