Autumn Journey

Silhouette of the distant hills
Misty vales shimmering thanks to the
Startling brightness of the autumn sunshine
Wild and ragged fields echoing the plants of summer
Now in their seed state
Earths preparation for the coming year

Mahogany fields neatly furrowed
Wet grass a plenty for the livestock to graze
The gradual unveiling of the trees
Sharing views of the intricate structure of the natural woodland

Magnificent crows fly, still working the land
Parent magpies with young adult offspring
Still teaching, still learning
Pheasants in all their glory hunting over the ploughed fields

Deserted beaches, time now for the sea to play
Reshape, reform the rocks and sands

Night drawing in early
Heralded by the onset of the cold and damp of late afternoon
Smoke spirals from chimney pots
Glowing embers giving warmth to our home
