ohhh they are very ohhh la la Gussie,
I love bride dresses.....sad eh!
I got married second time around last year, and i made my own, as it was registra i wanted something a bit more than a suit or plain dress.
I tried all the 'dresses' on but looked like an old meringue....
so i decided to make it, i was so chuffed.
It was very plain, no straps, two piece, white silky with a chiffon over skirt which sparkled, i added a little rose at the edge of the train, which was really small, it was simple and cheap but i also felt wonderful.
I made mine, a wrap and bag and a little bracelet type thing for my wrist with a little rose to match the bag and skirt, and i made seven bridesmaid dresses, with wraps and bags and the whole lot cost less than four hundred pounds, bargain...and i enjoyed making them so much.
That sounds lovely! I think elegant and simple is just so amazing. I agree with you though, there is a huge difference between plain and elegant and I imagine what you wore was really quite elegant.. chiffon always makes thing so much more classy..
I am not a big meringue fan although they do seem to suit all body types. Simple but striking just seems to work for me.
And yes, I do rather like the ones that are a little strange.. Many years ago, my first choice of career was a wedding dress designer, used to spend hours drawing up designs, always verging on the unusual and unique...
One of my friends bought from cymbeline, no problems and the dresses look great.
I went to the hairdressers today and the first mag i picked up was.....yep dresses, ohhh they are so pretty , it makes you want to get married alll over again....and again....and again......ha ha
