RE: Soapnutters! Shampoo making?

Maybe when I have an acceptance by a publisher I will spill the beans.:)
But out of interest, tell me what you would like to see in a book - I'm always ready and willing to listen to ideas and open to being inspired for new ideas.

I already write on this sort of topic for magazines such as 'Natural Health' and 'The Mother' magazine. I have a piece going in the Green Parent by the end of this year as well. I'm so passionate about this sort of thing and my own findings have been amazing. (Kindred Spirit it my next desire ;))

I appreciate it is not for all though - we are so brainwashed into a particular way of thinking, that the idea of washing in clay a couple of times a week turns some people right off the idea!!

Anyway, do let me know how you get on with things and fire any questions that come up - I love talking about this stuff and sharing experiences. It is only through sharing that we learn more.

A x

Hi
Don't know about soapnuts[sm=scratchchin.gif] but African black soap is great. It cleanses and gets rid of all the build-up of hair products. It has a smooth lather and is greatif you have itchy scalp. The best thing about it is you can use it as a soap, body soap and shampoo - sooo versatile. It is a lot softer than commercial soaps but you can cut off as much as you need, when you need it. Make sure you buy the authentic soap - it has no added dyes or chemicals and the one I use is made from fair trade shea and sustainably harvested palm trees.

I recently bathed my dog with it - it is great as it washes out much quicker than the doggy shampoos do - it has a natural clean smell. [sm=wave.gif]

The liquidised gunk is the best bit, yep it is thick - lovely and thick so you just need to add a bit of the soapnut liquid to it to dilute it a bit in order to get it to funnel into the bottle of soapnut liquid.

Don't expect bubbles, there aren't any as such cause there are no bubble making chemicals in there, just lovely, natural, pure soapnut juice - i use less water if making shampoo, i also only boil it ofr 10 minutes if i am going to mouli the shells.

can get soapnuts and info at www.ethicstrading.com - eco-friendly alternative to laundry detergent (and shampoo, as highlighted in this thread) and MUCH MUCH cheaper!

🙂
