Our actions today can determine how we live in the future. Which would you rather see in 100 years’ time; a polluted wasteland, or a thriving utopia? The choice is ours. Be recycling and using renewable energy sources we can keep our Earth beautiful.

The artist of the doodle had this to say.

What a powerful statement froma 14 yr old.

I'm not the kind of person who notices things - unobservant is the word. :p So I'd not even seen it, or that there even is a changing logo there. As they say: "These "doodles" celebrate different people, events or special dates and, until now, have been designed by our original Doodler, 29-year-old Dennis Hwang."

Not to go off-topic for the rest of the thread, but whilst the changes they're a'coming, a la Michael Crichton in his book, "State of Fear" I'm still unsure how much is real, how much is natural or truly man-made, and how many "solutions" are political tricks to tax us - such as the famed air tax. The latest I saw is that though there's campaigning to stop the use of plastic bags from shops, these bags themselves can be excellently recycled into other bags or all kinds of useful things, very cheaply. (Ever tried the American way of walking out with paper bags from which the bottom falls out?)

I guess what I'm saying is that the issue is real, but is being very heavily misused for political and commercial ends. So it's great to get children involved, but are they being brainwashed too?

DDT is virtually banned world-wide, but now turns out not to be so bad after all. And how much good has its ban done? Oh, just about 50 million dead worldwide from the return of malaria, which in odd cases is now even reaching the UK in the odd mosquito, I'm told. Because the 50 million dead aren't Westerners, eco-campaigners ignore the issue. (Maybe we should bring it back??)

Hi V

I guess what I'm saying is that the issue is real, but is being very heavily misused for political and commercial ends. So it's great to get children involved, but are they being brainwashed too?

I would imagine that there is some political brainwashing going on, but isn't that there anyway through the media (TV, Radio, Films, Music etc.)?

It's better that the kids start to have some awareness of such issues rather than being totally blind to it. You can see from some of the comments that the kids have left about their pictures that they have just taken what they have been told at face value, but that's how learning works when you're that young. As they grow they will be able to be more independant in their thinking and will be able to investigate the truths for themselves.
