I'm curious to hear everyone's opinions on compact fluorescent lightbulbs. Do you use them, do you have them throughout the house?
Right now we have energy efficient bulbs in most places in the house. They're fine for general use but I find their light hard to read with and sometimes they 'buzz'. X
Use'em as much as I can.
Even in reading lamps, by preference.
No probs, so far.
Wide range of colour temperature and lighting intensities available to suit all conceivable needs.
As usual, the government is targeting the domestic consumer when we all know that most resources are wasted by big business. Just getting all the offices etc to turn off their lights at night would save enormous amounts of power, getting industry to recycle water, restricting the amount of packaging used by manufacturers, improving public transport etc etc. But they continue to tinker with minor details whilst ignoring the major ones that would really make a difference. And, also as usual, they rush into change without thinking it through properly.
Agreed, calmintentions. It's minor, though maybe not to our individual bills.
It's another thread, but it seems the best way to stop global warming would simply be to all go veggie and stop having livestock. Their farts do emit far more greenhouse gasses than power stations and cars, planes, etc., etc.
"The human race, wiped out by cows' rear emissions" - what an epitaph that would make!

We have them & I hate them, to me they seem too too bright:cool: & we use the lower watt ones, I do suffer from migrains but didn't think that they could make them worse, I know I can't tolerate strip lights, the light that energy efficient bulbs give out makes me feel cold:(...no I'm not a fan at all
xx
They remind me of offices and I wouldn't have them in my house, the light they give off is too intense. I like a kinder, softer light in the house. I'm not a fan either.
