Hello!

Hope this is in the right place? Please can a Mod move it if not?

I've recently started a new little project using natural products for cleaning such as vinegar, bicarb. of soda, lemon juice etc. and i've just used a vinegar poultice on my ankle this morning for the first time. I went over on my ankle yesterday on the gravel that is uneven outside my flat and the ankle joint is swollen. I've used half apple cider vinegar with cold water and covered the cloth with a bandage. It's working already!

I'm really pleased. I was really hoping these natural remedies would work for me, i hate using all the chemicals we put down our sinks and into our bodies. I can't do much about the meds. i have to take, but this is my little step towards using nature rather than abusing it!

Anyone have other positive stories about using vinegar for healing or cleaning? Or any other products for that matter. I'm interested to hear.

Many thanks

Shaya x

I've always found vinegar to be a really useful cleaner, especially in the bathroom:

Bathtub film:
Bathtub film can be removed by wiping with white distilled vinegar and then with soda. Rinse clean with water.
Shower doors:
Rub down shower doors with a sponge soaked in white distilled vinegar to remove soap residue.
Toilet bowl cleaner:
Stubborn stains can be removed from the toilet by spraying them with white distilled vinegar and brushing vigorously. The bowl may be deodorized by adding 3 cups of white distilled vinegar. Allow it to remain for a half hour, then flush.
Unclog the showerhead:
Corrosion may be removed from showerheads or faucets by soaking them in diluted white distilled vinegar overnight. This may be easily accomplished by saturating a terry cloth towel in vinegar and wrapping it around the showerhead or faucet.

ooh thanks Moonfairy, will have a look at that link later.

By the way, my ankle is definitely aching less! Can still smell a faint vinegary smell though 😮

Haven't tried vinegar as a healer but I love it for cleaning. Using things like vinegar and bicarb is so cheap and effective I kick myself sometimes for not starting to use them long ago, especially when I think about the headaches I used to get from chemical cleaners.

Drain cleaner/deodoriser: Sprinkle half a cup bicarb over the drain and pour on a cup or so of vinegar, watch it fizz and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse with hot water.
