Hiya

Been trying without luck to find the places on the high street where I can shop with a clear conscience. I can find lots of articles online damning Asda, Primark, Gap, Top Shop, older articles damning M&S (although it sounds like they are really trying to address some issues now), but can't find any which say here is best. There is talk of a grading system for the ethical side of things but there seems to be no actual complete chart of those investigated, just lots of bad press about the bottom ones.

Do you know any shops I can shop in, or any brands on the high street which I can wear which are more ethically and ecologically sound?

Hi Justine,

I also find it difficult to shop on the high street for ethical products. If you want to avoid the large chain stores, I think you will have to buy on the internet. I've found some great online shops, that sell ethical, organic and sustainable products, including clothing, cosmetics, food, homeware and office products. Try these:

Happy shopping 🙂

Ethical highstreet shopping is limited, but there's nothing wrong with a good Charity Shop in my opinion. I just LOVE shopping online at places like peopletree.co.uk and greenfibres, but charity shop buys compliment these purchases nicely.
By buying second hand you aren't swelling sweat-shop profits, but supporting your chosen charity. It's the second cycle of ownership, and you're rescuing piles of fabric from being landfilled.
It's a good job that the Vintage/charity shop look is in vogue though, or we'd look a bit silly!
