Hi to you all this lovely cold evening.I have not been on here in a while. Happy new year to you all.:)

I am an avid book reader. I normally have a pile of books on my bedside waiting to be read. I read all the time. Its my main hobby I read all sorts of books and feel I have read hundreds of books!

I was thinking, how strange it is, that I have never read crime books. They have never appealed to me. I read quite a variety of books. But never crime. But a couple of months ago one of my friends lent me a James Patterson book. I have never read any of his books. But my friend said it was a good book. So I thought I would give it a try.

Anyway since that first book I have been hooked and have since read eight more of his books. Even though some of the books were a bit gory. I have really enjoyed them. I like the twists and turns in his books. I have been going to different librarys in Bournemouth just to get them.

Its made me think now. That I must try reading different books that normally wouldn`t appeal to me. As I have been missing some good books. Mind you whether I have the time to read all these books is another matter ha ha!

I have just started reading Harlen Coben as well. I like his books. Like James Patterson I hadn`t read his either.Does anyone else like these authors?

Best wishes
Sunrise 🙂

Hi Sunrise

I was also quite hooked on James Patterson. I seem to have kicked the habit recently - I began to forget which ones I had read and found myself into chapter three or four and only then realising I knew who dun it!!

I think the turn around came when James Patterson seemed to be farming out the writing to other authors whilst being the primary name on the book! Ken Follett grabbed me too and I read all of his spy / crime type books as well as his larger historical novels.

I am now into Science Fiction / Fantasy novels and historical fiction. People like Tad Williams and Bernard Cornwell. The only thing I will say is that nothing bugs me more than starting the first novel in a series and realising I'll have to wait around for 18 months before I can read the next volume!!

Good reading

Judith

Hi Welshtherapist I haven`t read any of his books that he co wrote with other authors. Are these as good? I cant imagine they would be. I am reading the Alex cross series at the moment. I have just started reading three blind mice. I will have a go at reading Ken Follett. There is a good site called fantastic fiction that I go on. It gives you all the books that authors write. Best wishes Sunrise

Hi Sunrise

will try that website - thanks!

Some of the co-writing books by Patterson are good - and I guess I was a bit harsh in that a number of his co-writers have gone on to write on their own - so it could be seen as a mentoring system.

I suppose I was finding all the books too similar after I had read about 20 books!!!!!!! It was time to move on.

Kind regards

Judith

I have read eight James Pattersons now, or is it ten! It will be interesting to see what I feel like if I read twenty of his books.

Just thinking you may also like Michael Connolly - very gritty detective stories - more nasty murders !!

Enjoy

Hi Welshtherapist

I have just got a Michael Connolly book from the library. I will let you know how I get on with it. Not sure when that will be! As I am reading about four books at the moment.

I do love reading.:) As you might have guessed.

Hi Welshtherapist

Just to say I have just read Echo Park by Michael Connolly. It was really good. I couldn`t put it down. He has written quite a few, so have a lot to look forward too.

Thankyou
