Hi all - after hearing these 2 pieces of music while out today, and feeling a sense of profound peace mixed with all of a sudden being very moved, I would love to put together a "playlist" of similar music to play when working with my clients.

I personally am hopeless at remembering the names of music I like. Could anyone who has any suggestions of similar music please post them here (not quite sure if this was the correct forum:)).

Look forward to hearing from you all....jtp x

The video doesn't match the song on this link, but it's a lovely version.

Just a reminder though, that these very Christian pieces of music, though wonderful, may upset any non-Christians or clients belonging to other faiths. Best to check with them first! (Although on another thread people were advised not to discuss religion with clients.)
Personally, I would find jazz irritating if I were having a treatment & trying to relax - which is something I'm notoriously bad at anyway.

I love Pie Jesu, and I'm not particularly a christian! It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, it's so beautiful.

Me too - totally! 🙂
But some people are v touchy about feeling 'preached at' without giving their consent.

Now you will have to forgive me Starshower*** I hope this does not
offend you as it is Christian in basis.

I heard a CD a while back of The Lords Prayer in Aramaic and I am not sure whether this is the one, but to me it sounds really refreshing and not prayer like at all, in fact it sounds far more interesting.

I could imagine myself lying contemplatively having a reiki treatment to this music.

Oh dear, I seem to be twice misunderstood here. 🙁
Of course I'm not offended, Binah!
I'm delighted with the beautiful music in your link & would buy the CD if I found it.

I love the Lord's Prayer (I say & meditate on it daily), & the teachings of Jesus, & lots of Christian music, art, etc. In an esoteric sense, I'm a kind of Gnostic Christian, with an active interest in all spirituality ...

I was merely pointing out that SOME therapy clients (NOT me!) just might not like the assumption that Christian stuff would be ok, without their consent.
Esp. if they were Muslim, Wiccan etc. I have come across people like that. That's all! No offence meant or taken.

I simply love the Mozart, Schubert, Faure & many other requiem Masses too.

I do agree. There is nothin more irritating when trying to relax during a therapy when you don't like the music be it for a religious reason or otherwise.

I think it is important to ask clients whether they would like to listen to music which is usually ambient, sometimes classical. I think Mozart's Requiem is a spiritually inspired work.

I think just music rather than words in music is the way to go for treatments, thats my preference when i used to massage, i think words can be distracting, but the music itself sort of takes you in, realaxation in itself.

I love Pie Jesu, i feel moved to tears whenever i hear it.

My son has a fantastic CD of Mozart pieces played as lullabies. He falls asleep every night listening to them, and Mozart's straight instrumental music is pretty accessible to anyone of any faith or belief. The requiem, however, is not, since it's intrinsically Christian.

At college we were always told not to play any music which may upset your client and to choose not musical type sounds, for want of a better way of putting it.
The piece of music I play a lot is Al Hadra which is Sufi Moslem chanting with drums/tabla, fantastic and extremely relaxing - have converted lots of clients and the offspring to this CD. If you can find it I would highly recommend it, good for insomniacs too!

Hi bluebella

I have Al Hadra and I love it the Sufi chanting is mesmeric - I haven't used it with clients only for my own meditation and personal use, this music certainly spiritually uplifts me and is relaxing and centreing - I am sure it would help my clients too.

Love Binah
