Hiya,
I just thought I'd make a little post about the lessons that are given to us when we're working on understanding ourselves & trying to move above the 'lower' emotions
I've read a lot here about people talking about being judgemental & working on not being judgemental, can be tricky all things considered when really we need to use are own judgment at times (IMO)
My current 'lesson' that I seem to be getting given is 'anger'. Last week I was finding myself feeling realy angery over trivial things[:@]...like anything small or big can get under my skin & just wind me up, so I've spent time working with the 'feeling' and trying to understand it but I found that many situations seemed to present themselves to me,as soon as I reasoned with myself to view things differently & use a more positive approach it all stopped...although no doubt at some point I'll be reminded again;)which is why to me it feels like I'm on a 'learning' curb. Also I've been noticing a lot of anger coming out of others too and noticing the engery of it, like dense thick air all around & how infectious is can become.
Does anyone else have any of lifes lessons that they seem to be expereicing at the moment, or perhaps something thats helped to bring understanding to you that you'd like to share

RE: When lessons are being given
Hi Amy
I had to laugh when i saw your post becasue i have so desperately wanted to explore the lessons i am learning at the moment - so that i can stay with it instead of getting annoyed!!
My current lessons are from my flat mate. I think the universe disguised these lessons under a devious cloak of a beautiful appartment in the perfect location, a cleaner once a week and very cheap rent! So I moved in and at first i didn't spend much time with him becasue i was with my boyfreind and so i missed most of the lessons. Having split with my bf in feb i am now realsing why i am livingthere.
There are some huge judgement issues but primarily its about control - especially noise - I hate not being able to get peace and quiet my flat mate on the other hand likes to dj and especailly likes to do this while drunk and entertaining ladies in the middle of the night - till 4am this morning. While this does seem unreasonable and I will have to say something what ifind very amusing is that it is not the music that keeps me awake (i have some great ear plugs) but the fact that he has on it at that time in the morning. I can't sleep becasue i'm so annoyed. If i could just relax and let the annoyance go i could probably sleep just fine!!!! lol
Also he challenges me alot in joking aorund and making derogatory comments whichat first i found hurtful but have now provided an interesting testing ground for my sense of self worth. Its also interesting to live with someone who - on first meeting i was very envious of - and now realsing that i wouldn't want his life in a million years.
He opitomises someone who is constantly searching outside himself for completeness - generally women, alcohol and expensive gadgets.
I have not painted a good picture of him here becasue i am focusing on the lessons i am learning from him. But along with the bits i find testing i have also seen some glimmers of a really nice person, caring and generous and these are testing in themsleves as my perception of this person shifts and alters and realise my initial judgements are unfounded.
He is certainly a bit of a crash course but its funny as i see through myself time and time again and am slowly breaking the cycles.

RE: When lessons are being given
Interesting thread. I think people are becoming more and more selfish these days - it's all about me, me, me - and there is less and less consideration and kindness towards others, all tying in with generally more anger and hate vibes floating around.
An interesting meditation I learnt about on a buddhist course wrt anger: basically, consider the fact that every has two things in common: a desire for happiness and the avoidance of suffering. Also consider that when you are angry with someone, it is because you feel superior to them. Now think about someone you are angry with, and then consider these two needs, using them as a common bond between you and that person. Now we should send compassionate thoughts to that person as they are after all an equal. Dunno if that helps.
RE: When lessons are being given
Hi all
Thanks for starting this thread, Amy. It certainly is ringing my bells!
Anger can certainly be a byproduct of our day to day dealings with other people (because of course we are perfect and they are unreasonable!:D)
(Thank you , Darren. Also consider that when you are angry with someone, it is because you feel superior to them.)
There's a belief system (to which I subscribe) which says that we have dealings with people so that we can learn various lessons. But equally other people are learning from their dealings with us.So, Sunbeam, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that you are sharing with that particular flatmate in order that he may learn to transcend his material desires through having contact with your aura and your energy. (Otherwise why would you find that he has good qualities as well a s bad? If he was totally dreadful you'd be out of there.)
I think that to learn these lessons we have to experience a degree of humility. If we don't think we've got anything to learn, then we won't...We have to be open and aware and be able to detach from the situation without getting sucked into it. {'Ah, anger is there....') that's my take on it, for what it's worth.

LOL:D:DI know what you mean:D
I'm finding that as soon as I remember that I'm being given a lesson I instantly or automaticallystart looking at the situation differently & everything becomes clear & positive. I do often forget about lessons & allow myself to get annoyed by something said or find myself feeling 'snappy' or in other cases things like impatients or money worry...well..lots of things really..too many to list;)...but in a funny way as soon as I become aware that there's a blessing to take it's quite nice[sm=idea.gif](if you know what I mean!!!))
