This is a follow on from the 'how do I keep spiritual thread'... Some practical advice on grounding the energy as we unfold spiritually... I am sure any other insight would be welcome here too.
I do remember when I first began to awaken spiritually, at times the energy flowing through me was like a tsunami and felt so scattered and ungrounded. In order to 'function' in an every day sense (until I integrated the gifts of unfolding spirituality), I discovered certain techniques that helped me to reconnect with my sense of earthliness, or in other words, made me feel grounded.
The following are practical tips on grounding methods:
- Close your eyes and take long deep breaths until you feel your energies rebalancing again.
- Take a walk in nature, in the woods, on the beach or wherever else you love.
- Do some physical excersise or sport.
- Share your experiences with an openminded, non-judgemental friend.
- Relax, breath deeply and allow any energy that doesn't serve you to fall away. Some people find it helpful to imagine that they are a tree, and that their roots are extending into the earth. This can offer a sense of relief and feeling of solidity if you are feeling radically spaced out.
- Consuming more heavier foods, such as nuts, grains (or anything stodgy), avocadoes (whilst I wouldn't recommend this an ongoing habit), can temporarily slow down the flow if we are finding things
overwhelming.
Above all, I would recommend that we don't deny what is unfolding for us, that we look deep inside and with profound honesty. When we offer no resistance to the truth, we find ourselves in the most awesome state of peace and harmony whereby the term ungrounded becomes redundant.

RE: How do we ground ourselves.
There are probably different levels to which spiritual experiences run away with you. There's just being in an extended, deep spiritual mood, or there might be the sudden, vast uprush of kundalini.
How to get grounded may differ slightly for people? I think your suggestions are good and would work for me too, especially sport or activity, but really not (for me) the walk in the country, which would just deepen the experience a lot at a time I might not want that. (I'd be seeing divinity everywhere, and it's become another mystical experience at such a time.)
If one really wants to "turn off" an on-going state that feels like "too much" for one, I wonder about doing something awfully mundane, like watching rubbish on TV? Or even a good comic movie?
P.S. Mind you, I see I'm not talking here so much about grounding as actually turning off a state that seems too overwhelming, which I've had to do sometimes. (Call it chickening out.)

RE: How do we ground ourselves.
Hi Trin
What a great topic. I have found this very helpful, as at times I feel really overwhelmed by everything that is happening, and everything that I am taking on board. Sometimes I find that I can't switch off to it all, my mind just keeps thinking about whatI have read, seen or experienced. I lie awake until the early hours, because my mind is racing, and I have so much energy.
Sometimes, for me, I have to step away from it all for a day or two, because I feel literally exhausted. Sometimes I feel like I am coming unhinged, because so much of what I believed has been challenged, or I have seen things from a very different perspective. At times I feel like I am changing so very much, I worry a little about it. I feel I need to slow down. Sorry if I sound a little crazy, but what you wrote is just how I feel at times. I like to meditate, and practise grounding techniques too, I find that calms me, most of the time.
Thanks for sharing

RE: How do we ground ourselves.
That brings up an excellent point Venetian! Just shutting out the world for a little while 😉 Yes, I have found too at times that realisations and divine awareness have seemed to flow too prolifically for me to handle, especially when I have undergone a deep spiritual shift! It can take a little while to adjust, and yes, at times I have just had enough too. My 'shutting it all out while', on occasions might be a movie or something REALLY third dimensional.
Back to grounding. Yes, we are each unique and individual, and there is something that works for each of us (hence the list of different suggestions 😉 )... there are so many more too.
RE: How do we ground ourselves.
Hi Jacquie,
Sounds like you are going through quite a few deep shifts. In my experience it does get better, and I have learned that the only way out is to fully experience what ever shows up for us. I wish you all the best in your unfolding!
Nothing crazy about the way you sound in the least 😉 Peeling back our layers of distortion and undoing controlling thought patterns that have been deeply set within us throughout our lives can be deeply traumatic and life shattering for many people. You are going for it! I think that is wonderful. Keep it up, and flow with whatever resonates with your deepest truth.
