RE: How do we ground ourselves.
Hi trin
I think everybody's case and experiences will differ. In mine, one kundalini experience was overwhelming, kept getting stronger, and had lasted 2 days. It was like being on psychoactive drugs (the feeling of not being in control), and of trying to hold onto sanity. What was going on with the pulses of kundalini and the ovewhelming shifts of consciousness meant that I could hardly focus on the real world. For example, on an easy road I stood at the kirb and couldn't focus on whether there was taffic or whether to cross. (My heart chakra was beaming out too much Love in all directions, and one couldn't get attention off that.
K experiences can indeed be hard. With this one I panicked and did things to stop it. (Prayed for it to stop, actually.) But a spiritual teacher says I should have just let it go on.
We discussed K a lot in a long thread I think about 2 years ago, on Mysticism. So I particularly had kundalini in mind, rather than taking in new experiences or thoughts, etc. It's tough, and I know many stories. The consensus seems to be to let it happen happen. 😮

RE: How do we ground ourselves.
Thanks Trin for the encouraging words........glad I didn't sound too crazy![sm=jump1.gif]Sometimes it can be hard to talk to others about what you are going through or what you feel. Sometimes it is hard to even acknowledge things to myself. It is lovely to be able to come here and read other peoples experiences. It makes me feel normal! I am just going with the flow, where ever this takes me. 🙂
With love

Jacqui... it can be hard, as you say to talk to others about what is going on for you, especially if they are not undergoing the same experiences. It can even be even more trying to find words to articulate how you feel, even to those on a similar frequency. There are lots of others out there who may be going through similar.

RE: How do we ground ourselves.
Sounds really interesting V, and has echos of some of my own kundalini experiences too, where (like you) such intense shifts in consciousness meant that I my awareness was completely removed from the 'real' world. I enjoyed deeply profound and blissful etheric experiences, but unfortunately when I tried to 'come back down to earth' it felt as if I did not fit into my physical body anymore. I was looking at the world with a completely different perspective and new found understanding of the nature of reality. This mind blowing kundalini activity requires (at least in my experience) intense integration whilst we readjust and allow it to be. It's also often significantly helpful for many people to be temporarily relieved of their usual everyday responsibilities, such as family, work and other commitments whilst they allow for unsettling spiritual awakenings to run their course. Everyday stuff often goes out the window, which is at which point I think that having support from others around who understand (not always easy to find I might add!) can be very handy indeed (probably much easy since the dawn of the internet, and supportive forums though).
It is really difficult for most people to integrate these experiences on their own (especially if they don't understand what is going on and have no frame of reference for it)... it can be rather frightening for some (if not most) to freefall, and simply trust that higher consciousness knows what is in their best interest. But trust and an unconditionally open heart work wonders.
I am glad that you are here to tell the tale. It's so funny I remember standing on that kerb once too 😉
RE: How do we ground ourselves.
Hi trin,
Not being able to work or carry out everyday experiences doesn't always happen with k experiences, but it's a common story when they are intense and long. Once I could carry on only because my job was so easy, and out of doors. I have a friend who several times spent a few days flat on her back as it went on (with much physical pain in the spine and cranium). And on and on. We had perhaps a "first" on HP with the former Mysticism thread. I'll look it up. Someone off-forum, a spiritual teacher of sorts, had much experience of k and wrote well on it, so I invited him to join HP as a "guest" so we could ask questions.
He was the publisher and editor of a magazine on peak experiences, with a number of staff. His k came suddenly and peaked for months or years, and he just couldn't work -- so ironically he had to let the magazine end and reluctantly laid off all staff.
I'll look up the thread - I think it's a good one!
