RE: What did Jesus look like?

Hi Kim
Amma certainly tells Her devotees off for focusing on Her physical form when we should be performing service to others.

PS But implicit in the ashram ethos is the knowledge that when one is around Amma it is extremely difficult to focus on anything else. I guess that's what we go there to learn.

Therefore, speaking from that experience, I would say that it would be entirely within the realms of possibility for Jesus to have said that his feet hurt - but in fact he wouldn't have had to experience the pain if he cared not to. I'm getting myself into a bit of a twist here, but if a Master says something which seems to confirm His/Her humanity, IMHO this would only be to, in some way, put his followers at their ease. One young 'minor' guru I met who had hurt her thumb told me 'Pain is there but it doesn't matter.'

Ramakrishna, whose life story and teachings I find fascinating, had a parculiar ambiguity when it came to injury and anything to do with his personal self. At odd moments he could actually appear to be slightly hypocondriac. For example, as he often lost consciousness in samadhi and this had happened while he was walking, he collapsed and broke his arm. Disciples arrived one day to find him bewailing the pain in his arm. But was this a game? Or was it the play of Kali? For a minute later the arm was forgotten, he would laugh at human limitation, and he discoursed for hours on things of the divine nature...

RE: What did Jesus look like?

Hi Brett,
reading your post made me think about the first time I sat in a Development circle 3 years ago. The Medium talked us through a meditation to meet our guides and I 'saw' my garden. It had a bench in it and a gravel path behind it and I was sitting there waiting for my guide to approach from behind. I had never done anything like this before and wasn't sure what to expect! I then heard the gravel crunching as if someone was approaching and I got images of sandalled feet and a brown rough material at ankle length and remember thinking to myself "oh, how original, I've got a monK"! When I 'opened' my eyes to look at my guide I had a big shock, instead of the monk I was expecting , there before me was Jesus, smiling. I couldn't understand why I should be seeing him as I am not a religeous person, but he sat next to me on my bench and I didn't know what to say!
I then asked him if he really was the son of God, or was he a very good healer caught up with the politics of the time?. He just looked me straight in the eyes and smiled.

When we came out of the meditation I was worried about what I was going to say when the medium asked each of us who we saw, I mean, I was the new girl and it seemed I had illusions of grandour to come out and say I had seen Jesus on my first night!!!
When she got to me I said that I had seen who I thought was Jesus but as no-one knew exactly what he looked like I couldn't be sure because he looked like the paintings . The medium laughed and asked me if he had appeared to me as Bruce Forsythe would I have known it was him?. I replied of course not and she said that was why he came looking like the Jesus I would recognize! Of course that made a lot of sense and to this day when we meet in meditation he appears as the Jesus depicted in religeous paintings ( and yes, he never answers my questions, just smiles at me!).

Lovely experience Reikangel, can I just add briefly that I had a similar one to you, within a group session at spiritual healing classes, and, I was sitting beneath a fountain with Jesus, on a concrete bench that went in a circle around the fountain. It was in a garden, with a Tudor cottage in the background, and He smiled and didn't speak to me either, and this is constant, and happens every time, alhtough on occasion we are sitting under a huge old oak tree looking over fields of corn and wheat, and others we are walking down a path together, with trees overhead, and it is evening. At no point does He speak, but he smiles always and listens.

RE: What did Jesus look like?

Gilliann,

Just read your post and need to share an experience which happened to me some twenty years ago. I had been through the dark night of the soul. My physical world was in ruins, my energies weak, I wanted not to be here.

I cried out to a God I knew existed but thought was only for the 'good' people and I did not consider myself 'good'. It seemed that all I did failed and my life was worthless.

Then I cried out to Jesus from my heart, a heart which knew that he was and hoped that he would heed my call for I did not believe that I could go on. He was my last chance.

It was daytime, I was on my knees. In the next moment I was in His arms. His comforting arms. We spoke or should I say He spoke and I listened. He told me that my life would be a hard and long road for some time to come but that I was to take heart for He would be with me. I did not see His face in this experience only His energy, His love, His warmth, His compassion. He then let me go to a place which He said was the ultimate condition. There I saw a multitude of cells all together like grains of sand, all knowing, all benign, all perfect and complete, the cells of The Infinite.

When I had had my fill of the bliss, the peace, the completeness I found myself back in His arms. Armed with the new knowledge I was to go back into my body and brave the next few years of personal growth and bring about my destiny as I am today.

I have had many more experiences with Him and with many of The Masters. My heart almost stops when I dwell upon the enormity of my life and the blessings which I have been given.

I recall once in a circle Buddha looking at me or not looking at me but present and near. I told Him that I would be most pleased to have Him speak through me (as many have, I channel) and was told by His attendants that he does not speak through others but allows others to speak His words for Him. But Lord Jesus speaks through channels (as I'm sure that you are aware). Spell binding and glorious.
