RE: Thoughts on Like attracts Like
Interesting perspective protecting oneself from one own's soul and the cosmic law of attraction, the best protection is to heal it.
Hi Sacredstar
I hear what your saying. When I used the word protect I was actually thinking about my ex-husband who was suffering from depression and paranoia and was threatening to kill me. I never wished him any harm but as he became more unstable I knew I had to protect myself and the children by getting out of the situation. Sometimes the only way to protect yourself is simply to keep away from that person. I know this is an extreme case but I do agree that if you aren't in any physical danger then healing is a good option if you are able to do it.
I have tried this with someone I know who is very anxious and negative. She doesn't mean any harm at all but because she seems to only see the down side of everything in her life (and mine!) this was really dragging me down. My Reiki Master advised me to surround her in pink light. I do this now every time we speak and it somehow seems to soften everything. I find now that I am not effected by her negativity any more, so yes, it does seem to have worked in this situation. Occasionally she has given me a funny look as if she can sense something is happening but I just carry on. My Reiki Master said it was because my own energy had changed and this is what my friend is picking up. It's all quite fascinating.

Sebenny, you are quite right. Sometimes you have to put yourself out of the way of a person for the safety of yourself and/or others.

Another way of looking at it...who's to say that when someone enters yuor life who is negitive, nasty or vile, that it's you who's around to make them realise that their behaviour or attidude is just plain out of order???...I was thinking about the situation that I used as an example above & thinking about the person & no one would ever stand up to them, they could make peoples lives a misery but people where so used to it that they become to expect it & the person was never ever show or told that they where out of order..yes there was arguments with other people but this person would always feel that they were right because they shouted the loudest or got violent...no one told them they where wrong....who's to say that I wasn't the person meant to say "No[sm=nono.gif]" to this person & now they have the opertunity to look at themselves & have a chance to put a lot of things right with a lot of people & have a happier life..just a thought...I do wish them well & never wish anyone harm....but...to be honest...I don't think I'll be sending love...wish them well is the limit for me I'm affraid....[:o]

RE: Thoughts on Like attracts Like
Hi Amy
so...my stumbling block with my question...if like attracts like...did I attract this person into my life...or do I see these dark points becuase there in me...I flippen well hope not
Referring to your original question I don't think you attracted this person into your life because you are like them. It sounds as though they have an awful lot of problems but as you say ...
...who's to say that when someone enters yuor life who is negitive, nasty or vile, that it's you who's around to make them realise that their behaviour or attidude is just plain out of order???
My belief is that e.g. this person (Person Z) is presenting an opportunity for ANY of the people they are connected to to help Person Z face up to their own demons. If we are given an opportunity like this, we have complete freedom to choose whether to take it up or not. We certainly don't have to if we don't want to and we definitely don't have to have them in our lives if we don't want to.
Hope this makes some sense. As I said before, this is just my own view of things based on past experiences.

Well yes sometimes the intent can be a test of whether you can break the karmic cycle by walking away from it rather than staying trapped in a control drama and or mexican stand off.
In my experience those that are sick are not willing to learn/change until they are sick of being sick, until then it is always everyone elses fault sadly.
So of course one can protect oneself and the family by breaking the cycle and walking away, that is our birthright of free will to choose.
However, one can still ask what did I learn from it? What did it trigger within me? Could I have handled it better? Why was I attracted to that person in the first place? There is always so much to learn about the self from every life experience.
Onwards and upwards flying divine!
