On the downside, Doq, the lack of a geomagnetic field is held to be the reason not only why life could not now develop on Mars, but also why the atmosphere is largely lost (into space) by that planet. So geomagnetic events do bear watching. Yet as you say there have been many reversals - in the long run they are not in fact exceptions, but rather they are the way the world 'works' for some reason. This planet, Earth, spends a certain period with Greenland etc to the north, then to the south, etc., etc. While life survives these events, they certainly won't be healthy times. But I think current geological thinking is that they happen relatively quickly such as a period of just some years.
I do pay attention to esoteric sources however, and from at least as far back as the 1960s the theme has been running in 'messages' that the poles would 'straighten' which I take to mean that the Earth revolving off its magnetic axis as it presently does is a bad thing and a sign of things being out of kilter. A straightening of the axis, if that is happening, could be conceived of as a good thing, comparable to a person's spine being healed. Esoterically it might be viewed as being the dawn of a 'new age'.
So something is happening, I agree, and it might be that.
