Hi,

I wonder how many people that frequent this particular forum are:

Vegetarian
Vegan
Fruitarian (Fruit only)
Vegetarian with fish
Or Omnivorous (eat all foods)… ?

I am personally Veg with fish; I intend to ascend to the level of just pure Veg one day. I hold the opinion that those folk that walk the spiritual path eventually, consciously choose to avoid eating the flesh foods of animals (and fish). Many people have many different reasons for their chosen diet. I have heard the proposition that – in eating the flesh foods (meat, poultry and fish) – we actually also consume the very unwholesome ‘fear vibrations’ that the animals, birds, fish etc.. experienced immediately prior to their demise. It is a notion I personally accept to be true. Thus we are what we eat.

I also read in Geoffrey Hodson’s and Charles Leadbeater’s books the mention that life of the more subtle realms – such as the Devas, fairies and elves are less inclined to approach human beings (for one reason at least) if we then emanate these same ‘distress and fear vibrations’ of the creatures – whose flesh we have consumed. This too, I have good cause to accept as true.

However, as much as I personally hold these opinions; I certainly do not judge those that choose to eat the flesh foods of meat and poultry. Such is their own choice and no one has (IMHO) the right to say ‘thou should not’… Each to their own ways.

My opinions are as a direct result of personal study, observation and spiritual experience in life; I am not religious (in the usual sense) and therefore religion has played no part in the formation of my dietary preferences.

I therefore open this topic for discussion.

Should you like to post – please say what you eat and why – or if you haven’t thought of the keys behind your habits – perchance you might ponder and then post. I am sure we will have some interesting reading ahead – for which, in advance, I thank you all.

Sol.

RE: Spirituality Forum Vegetarianism Poll

Happy to oblige in due course, Sol, but I thought a poll had boxes to check, as in the ones pinned at the top of the General Discussions Forum.

I also believe, but may be wrong on this, that only the mods or admins can set these up, so they exist as a record, ie one can see percentages at a glance, but discussion can also take place.

RE: Spirituality Forum Vegetarianism Poll

It is interesting that you asked that, Sol, and it attracted my attention for reasons I will explain.

First of all I am not a fantatic so as far as I am concerned people can eat what they like. I have always thought that, but in just the last few days did post that Vegans IMHO can be fanatic as I tried it out and found it depended on climate (a warm one!) and in my experience it is ridiculous in England.

I will tell my tale as it blows many myths about "protein" apart.

I simply cannot explain it, and it may be a past-life issue, but I NEVER ate meat from birth. Apparently I spat it out from Day 1. Once more, this was just a personal thing and I do not in the slightest way judge people who do. But allow me to blow the protein myth apart.

I have had a sporting life and to my great dismay, as I felt a bit guilty, I have broken a few legs. Well, I did I not feel too guilty ;), as I was only doing what anyone in my position would do. I have also had one fracture which put me out of soccer for several years. Anyway, the point is that I would like to blow this myth that you "have to eat meat" in order to get enough protein. From experience, it is total rubbish.

So my main point is, the idea that being veggie, or even that you need to monitor how much protein you eat, is nonesense in my experience, There is protein in all food - even bread - and I never give it a thought and am healthy.

I really cannot explain it, but from birth I never ate meat. Around the age of 20 I was for many months in places like Afghanistan and just could not survive asking only for veggies or I would have starved, so for maybe 5 months I tried out asking for steak. That was for about 5 months. But it was only because I had to. It was OK but tasted like cardboard to me. I certainly did not need it. So I have eaten meat.

Gosh, those who grow up on it are welcome to it. I think the vibe thing is essential, and yes, you are taking into your body vibes of fear at the point of violent death. Which vibes become a part of your body cells.

The subject of fish is very important by the way. I confess that for the last 18 monhs I have made it very much of my diet. You read all these things about oily fish being healthy, so I eat it every other day now. But the topic of the morality of it - I just admit I do not know. I do know it feels good for my body - Tuna etc.

But I respect anyone's choice about diet, and I think the most important thing is that it is more important what comes out of the mouth (words) than what goes in.

Fanaticism is a dangerous path to tread... and that is the bottom line.

I appreciate what you are saying venetian and it is nice to hear someone who is a vegeterian saying it, as it seems coming from an "omnivore" like myself to be a tad self-serving...lol

the only thing that I try and do, and unfortunately, it is rather difficult given my location and financial status right now, is try and eat "cruelty-free" food--although i know many who think that the mere act of killing an animal is cruel. I guess I ascribe to the treat them with dignity and respect field. Plus, it is usually healthier.

I guess i sort of look at it as many animals eat other animals--the whole circle of life thing n all (don't worry, i wont' start belting out Elton John). but i know that people feel differently and hey, if that is your choice, it's good to live by it. :>

RE: Spirituality Forum Vegetarianism Poll

Letsee...typed this up last night and the board crashed so hope it doesn't happen again!

I'm an omnivore. I steer clear of most red meat except on the occassions when my body demands it. I think that may be to do with problems of absorbing vital minerals etc and when the levels drop too low...

I eat organic veggies and fruit and try to eat only in season so I get the most vitamins available from them. Won't eat strawberries at Xmas, for example...

I do understand the concept of inbibing the fear of the animal and that worries me somewhat, especially after one steak a few years back which totally revolted me - I refused point blank to eat it and got into a row with hubby! Can't shake the feeling that the poor animal had not died well. However, I am focusing on listening to my body's needs and being guided by that, so am gradually filtering out unhealthy products - not easy when you have a carnivore husband and a finicky child! I suspect I will become vegetarian at some point in the future...

As the Dhali Lama replied when asked when people should become vegetarian... "When they no longer wish to eat meat."
Martin Shaw put it a good way too - "I no longer wanted to eat meat just to satisfy my tastebuds."

Blessings
Moonfeather

PS - do you use sun and positive energy to purify water, Sol? I'm thinking of the research which reveals that thought energy and music etc can affect water crystals (can't recall the author right now). I put a bottle of boiled water on the windowsill with 'Joy' and a Reiki symbol drawn on the bottle. You are what you eat - and also what you drink.
