RE: Spiritualist Churches

Thanks so much everyone for your replies (sorry not replied sooner - had a snuffly cold and feeling very sorry for myself.)

I am definitely going to pluck up courage and go to my local church - I am not usually a shy person but I am feeling very timid about this - don't know why. Having told a few of my usually cynical relations that I was thinking of going, I got some surprising responses - most of them knew someone who already went to one and others were really interested and asked me to let them know what happened! My husband even offered to come with me!!! (If you knew my husband you would understand how astonishing that was). I shall certainly post my reaction and let you know how what I think.

Thanks again

Love

Hi Celtia,

when you go into a spiritulist church for the first time just take a few minutes to take note of the way you are feeling. If you feel comfortable then enjoy. They generally run them with prayers, a hymn or two before they go into the actual readings given by the medium. The only thing I would say with anything is question everything, take nothing on blind faith and trust your instincts. Your guides and those that love you have nothing to hide and so will not mind you confirming everything. God Bless and angel grace to you. I hope this has helped.[sm=FIFangel.gif] Love Nawal

RE: Spiritualist Churches

hi celtia..

first of all.. i'm pleased you've decided to go.. (and with your hubby too!)..

i went to a spiritualist church last friday.. i got a text from a friend completely out of the blue aking me if i'd like to go.. the text arrived just minutes after i'd been speaking about her and so i decided (because of the sheer coincidence) to go along.. i've been to these kind of churches before but it was not long after my dad died and so i think i went there with too much expectation.. i never really bothered with them much after that..

anyway.. last friday i found that everyone was really welcoming.. they could tell that we were new to the church (i live in a small community) and they went out of their way to explain everything and make us feel at home.. i enjoyed the whole experience.. we sang a few hymns and said some prayers and then the medium took over before we ended on another hymn.. afterwards we all sat and had a cup of tea and i had a lovely chat with a woman who was training to be a medium.. she's going to give me the number for a friend of hers who runs a small circle to help people develop their psychic awareness.. i think that's one of the best things about it because most people who are there are like minded and have the same views as you do.. you can talk in depth about things that you can't normally discuss with people who are 'closed' to it.. that in itself is a good reason to go.. i left there feeling inspired and enlightened.. infact i'm really looking forward to going again next month..

i hope you enjoy it as much as i did..

love and kind thoughts

RE: Spiritualist Churches

hi celtia

i too am like you. i have seen many churches around and never felt drawn to them apart from one that was a little too far away for me, funny thing is i looked it up again the other day as i felt the time is now right and i have discovered that they have moved to the bottom of my road.
I think i was drawn to this church for that reason, so thursday night at 7.30 i will be taking a little walk, and hoping that this church is the one for me.

God Bless xxxxxxx

RE: Spiritualist Churches

Hi

I guess I ought to contribute to this thread. I've been away for quite a while but absence has strengthened the fact that I'm a Spiritualist in just about every sense.

I haven't read any other postings today as I've only just got back online on HP but essentially a Spiritualist is one who knows that death isn't the end of everything, life continues apace albeit in a slightly easier fashion than here on earth. And then a Spiritualist understands that communication can occur through an intermediary (a medium) between this side and the other.

There are many peripheral issues which spring from this understanding. Try the churches, buy Psychic News and Two Worlds.

This is the time and the place to begin to make sense of this world - Spiritualism DEFINITELY isn't only about death.

Check it out.
