RE: Soul Healing
Hello Amy and Glynis,
I think we would be in sad shape if the soul, the part of us that is eternal, could be injured. Saying that, I know that there are aspects of our emotional being that we allow to hurt, but as Spirit those emotional aspects do not exist, apart from expressions of Love. There are things we learn to accept as humans that need not be a part of us.
And no, Glynis, I don’t think it is the “brain” that controls our emotions, because again, that would be separation. The brain, the mind, the emotions are all aspects of who we are, just as ice, liquid water, and water vapour are aspects of the one substance we know as water. Bits of ice may float in a glass of water, then evaporate into vapour but how can you separate one from the other? They are constantly in the process of changing from one state into the other and one is no more or less valuable than all the rest.
Rainbows—the refraction of Light through water—are always present but we can only see them if we are standing in a place that reveals them. The same is true of oneness with Spirit. If we stand in a place of pollution we may see only smog and not understand that rainbows are there. If we stand in clarity, we can see all the aspects of the colours that exist.
“Spiritual healing,” healing from Spirit, can work to erase our acceptance of emotional hurt, but healing for the soul sounds like coals to Newcastle—totally unnecessary.
RE: Soul Healing
I LOVE that analogy of ice and water!! It describes it so beautifully!!
(The bit about the "brain" was a bit tongue-in-cheek, I'm afraid, following on from a different thread.....apologies if it caused offence. I do have a strange sense of humour!)

RE: Soul Healing
Perhaps not soul healing then, maybe soul cleansing (!!??)....this thread has got me thinking & it does have a nice feel to it, I can imagine the soul to get a bit 'stained' throughout life....again I feel it's the higher self that stays pure & undamaged but this is my gut feeling on the issue as I hold my hands up to being uneducated on this subject, I prefare to learn from others (like here;)) & my own thoughts & feelings...perhaps I'm learning something now:eek:...maybe someone could tell me the differance between my soul & my higher self[&:]...I see my soul as a student going through the journey of life & the aim is to become pure & knowing(amongst other things)...where as my higher self is pure as it's my connection with the higher universal source..or God/Goddess
Love
Amy
RE: Soul Healing
Glynis, we did catch the reference. =) It is sometimes difficult to keep the sense of humor in check here as there are some who are not amused!!
Amy, we would suggest that the soul is the part of you that is eternal, but actually the terminology is strictly for human use. What we call anything makes no difference to what it is.
Another analogy might help. We know that the physical structure of the earth is made of layers. The core is the center, the molten fluid part. Around that is the mantle and the outside layers are referred to as the crust. Any changes we, as humans, might make to the earth will be no greater than scratches on the crust. We can shape the crust, can scar it but we cant make any impression on the core. It is part of the glory of the core that any changes that take place around it will be transferred to other areas, but the corebecause of its fluidityis not changed.
The earth as a whole may be explained in layers and what happens to one part may have a noticeable, transient, effect somewhere else. The same is true of our being. We can speak of the human aspect of our being, our higher self, our soul, our brain (sorry, Glynis) our heart, whatever, but they truly are not able to treated individually. My body, though temporary, resides on this planet but the greater part of me is Spirit. Its like a mountain on the crust of the earth. The mountain may wear down, as my body will die, but there will be no lasting detrimental effect on the whole.
So to apply the analogy to spirituality, the core is the soul, the mantle is the higher self wrapped around the soul, and the crust is currently me in human form. But it takes all of it to make the unit that I call my being.

Then what's the spirit?
