Hmmm I think any place can be sacred if it has the right feel & resonance for you. I love the coast & the countryside. There is a place near me called Virginia waters It is so beautiful with many different energies. relaxing & energising, Grounding & has you flying at the same time its fantastic.

RE: Sacred places

wow!
Moonfeather,
I used to live in Scotland(Linlithgow) when Iwas 6 till 10 and we used to go to Cairnpapple and Cockleroy on a Sunday as our day out! It was always windy there and there are many pictures of me nd my sister with red faces and hair all over!! We always used to ask to go there because we loved it so much!!

Also double wow!
Runestone,
my family come from southampton, not far from the New Forest, I`ve lived there from 10 till 26 and we used to go to the Forest on a regular basis, It`s very peaceful, if you know where and when to go - we used to go to Bolderwood a lot and just amble through all the walks, in fact I took my family there last year and they had a great time! - somehow I alwys come out feeling calm and peaceful, as if the trees absorb all the negative energy from you.

Triple wow!!
M! I`d forgotten about Rendlesham forest - that was one of the first places we headed for when we moved to Suffolk (Ipswich) as I found Ipswich to be bereft of trees and very barren (we moved in Feb) especially after Hampshire

Again a very spiritual place, and in the winter hardly any people, so lovely and peaceful with a feeling of "waiting" and expectancy - the kids love it there too.

children seem to be instinctively drawn to places that hve a good feeling don`t they??

So I do know lots of places I can go to (in my head)

thanks for reminding me!!!

I must be a bit weird but
But if its when you can feel the energy rising up through you and you feel in ore of what awesome place we live in
To me shopping centers can do it, for me sitting on the beach, some spiritual shops, Queen Street at night, sitting on one tree hill, a Childs smile, it can happen any where,
And to me they are the scared places and scared times to me its all in the energy that given of in the moment
but I all ways live out of the norm ha ha

RE: Sacred places

I have had the good fortune to have lived in Ireland for a few years and undoubtedly, The Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare are extraordinary... to sit high, very high above the sea crashing with great white breakers on the rocks far below was an amazing feeling. One of you also mentioned Dingle - while the Dingle peninsula itself is home to superb beauty and scenery, Dingle town itself didn't 'do it' for me - too commercial now... On the north coast there - is a place called Brandon bay - a surfers paradise with a white sand beach that stretches as far as the eye can see, with an azure blue sea ( a COLD sea I might add)! Nearby is a place called Brandon Point that jutts out into the Atlantic - high up and with a view that streches a very long way out to the west. People see whales there...

However, my favourite place of all time for really feeling "home" - is in Scotland - in the Western Isles - called Callanish, I've been twice and I do intend at least one further visit. It's a very large cross shaped group of standing stones with a 'circle' in the middle. All the stones are cut from Gneiss - a hard, very old, metamorphic rock that really looks the part. To get to Callanish - you first need to be keen - it will be cheaper to have a package holiday to Europe than to drive there and back (from southern Britain)... but who wants Europe when we have such sites to see here... If you look it up and see on the web what I saw - and you're still keen - try to go in late June to early July when the machair carpet the islands with lush bright and scented wild flowers... Sit on a beach there and meditate to the sound of waves and no people, no cars, nothing else. Camp on a beach and read the small print in your book at 11.45pm at night without a torch... it begins to get dark then, but by 3am it gets light again... I have visited 100's of ancient sites in britain - and certainly, unquestionably - Callanish feels home for me... even with the ferocious sabre toothed midges!

Sol.
