RE: Sacred places

On the subject of places little-visited with no-one or almost no-one there...

Cadbury Hill at South Cadbury now has extremely compelling evidence for it as being the location of Camelot. While many places have been touted as being the location, South Cadbury Hill is THE place people are starting to agree looks like having been "it".

Anyway, it isn't 'sacred' exactly as the theme isn't holiness but history, yet all the same you have the place to yourself (expect mud) or almost so - it just isn't a tourist spot. I find it very deep to be there and contemplate all that went on there. It's just a few miles south of Glastonury and you can see Glastonbury Tor from it.

RE: Sacred places

Agree that all places are sacred when we stand and contemplete the Divine there, but some places do have that special something, don't they? Local place near me is Cairnpapple Hill - a henge dedicated to the moon. Funnily enough, although it is stuffed full of spirits and energies, I only feel connected when under the concrete cover over the graves at the centre of the henge - spirits there love you to sing! Cockleroy, a few miles away, is a more sacred place to me. I've sometimes made connection to the spirit of ancient forests - very powerful and usually only once, as if a door is opened briefly to let me know something is there.

RE: Sacred places

My 'place' is the New Forest in Hampshire. Whenever I go there I feel at peace with the world. I love trees and forests but for some reason that particular one has a special effect on me. I even have my own special spot which to me is truly sacred. I can remember my children playing there when they were small which is a lovely memory for me. I often imagine myself there if I need to calm down or find some peace, its a very powerful image to me.

Hmmm I think any place can be sacred if it has the right feel & resonance for you. I love the coast & the countryside. There is a place near me called Virginia waters It is so beautiful with many different energies. relaxing & energising, Grounding & has you flying at the same time its fantastic.

RE: Sacred places

My first choice would be a very little known stone-circle called "elva-plain" its a beautiful place...the energy there is out of this world. Not many of the stones are left but that kinda adds to the magic of the place. I actually have yet to see a single tourist up there. The last time we were there I could actually feel gratitude eminating from the stones!

Another place is a secret little shore we go to on Derwent Water. Its a great little hideaway and not many tourists ever find it. We went there today actually and I took a pic with my mobile phone -

Its a great place!
