wonderful to hear of your continuing unfoldment and awakening!
The chakras you have experienced above your head are commonly referred to as 'para-chakras'. Man is (as far as i am currently aware) a 10 dimensional being, these chakras are the primary dimensions above the 7 commonly related with.
In ancient art, you often see Egyptian gods with a ball above their head. This is the awakened 'Self', the parachakra above the head, which is the awakened divine within. This artisitic addition was added to Pharoahs heads as a matter of course, even though they had not all accomplished the awakening of the Self/Soul, because they were meant to be divine, they had to have the same attributes as their Gods, so the Self was shown as 'awake'. Sorry, bit of chakra trivia there. Incidentally, it is this which gives rise to the radiance depicted on images of Jesus and other masters. It is the coming of the divine self into the vehicle Here, and with it comes this radiance we see (again, artistically, this has been added as a matter of course to the heads of Saints, but this is not always applicable or deserved)
The chakra around the knees is perhaps one you've just become aware of perhaps through becoming more aware of your grounded self here, since all joints have minor chakras around them (think about it....;)). Perhaps, and I say perhaps since only you will know, but perhaps what has happened is that you have furthered your understanding of your Base/root chakra, as such, your ability to perceive detail and make minor differentiations has increased, thus enabling you to perceive the chakra....this is a form of 'seeing more of the light that is you' -which is, of course, a form of en-lighten-ment!

PS as to their functions - i invite your exploration since any words i used here to convey working with the parachakras will come across as nonsense since the parachakra is outwith the realm of the mind (easier to convey face to face). I am writing a workshop - 'Approaching the Self' which is about cultivating personal strategies for approaching the Self/Soul in the modern western world and is, in effect, dealing with the first parachakra, but it is not ready yet, and anything in this respect, IMO, needs personally tailored and experientially demonstrated and practised since it can only be talked around and practised towards, and not directly approached, since it is categorically outwith the realm of mind. MODS: i dont feel that is advertising since it will not be ready for some time, and is illustrated here to convey a level of working experience with the topic and nothing more. - i wont be offended if you feel the need to edit it out.

I know the oner you mean .. "the Thymus"........... Mine has been activated for a couple of yrs now.. It was done so during a weekend workshop in Glasty, With the angels & masters... Lovely experience:)
Its a lovely chakra which when you connect with it gives a wonderful connection to the higher spiritual realms.......

I have known about the Chakras coming in and down , its quite exciting really me thinks;) in turn some say pushing our existing ones further down our bodies..
I'm not sure just how many new chakras there will be comming in but some ive heard say ten others 13... personally my feeling is thers more than that !

Now here's the odd thing .. yes you'll get used to my oddness lol.... when I was shown this new chakra its actually between my ankles!! not my knees !!!!!! I remember scanning it & thinking errrrrr why the Gap! ( exactly says hubby. the pressance & evidance of gaps would be between my ears [&:]) any how I remember trying to move the crystal one up to my knees cos there my root chakra then a gap then the crystal one. it deffinately something to do with grounding but not in the same sense as being grounded .. its more to do with the connection to gaia and then from her to source...... ohhh never try to explain something complex when you've only had 4 hours sleep in the past 37 hours[&:] lol......................... It does feel different to me, althought its grounded .. its also very ethereal feel to it too. hmmm i'll try to get some me time and meditate on it If i can . Darren the W/S sounds very interesting.... When do you think it will be up and running? Do you even live in Englasnd [&:] hee heee I have to plan ahead you see
