RE: Is the New Age spiritual?
Is the New Age spiritual?
Yes....I would say it is because in my eyes people seem to be looking for a higher meaning in life...so this age & the future is a time of a higher awareness of spirituality.
I do beleive also that theres a differnce between being psychic or a medium & being spiritual. When I first started to use thing like Tarot I wasn't on any spiritual path...I was asked not so long ago how much of a part does Tarot mean in my spiritual path, my anwer was it's a VERY small part of my path. To me spirituality is about finding my own inner truth to a higher understanding....I have so far refused to read books to do with a spiritual path because for me I'm wanting to find my own way...in truth right now I am questioning myself whether or not I'm giving myself over to ignorance becuase people who write books do have a lot of knowlege & have travelled & experinced all sorts...but...I want to learn from within myself!!
they can side-track you like baubles and trinklets from the spiritual Goal
I think to an exptent that is right...people can look for 'power'...& in some funny way they see the ability to be a medium or whatever as having power or a gift or being special..when..well in my eyes, where all the same with the same abilities if we choose to use them...

RE: Is the New Age spiritual?
David,
This is a question that we struggle with more often than we would like.
New Age, in general seems to be about the gulliblethose who, as Amy says, are after the power. They seem to be very impressionable, as a rule, and open to anything new and different that will make them seem to have skill and ability above the norm.
They will buy any kind of trinket, bauble, herb or oil with the idea that something outside of the self can make them closer to the beings that they create to guide them. No surprise that those beings always agree with the direction that the human wants to go. "The Archangel Michael for one touts justice, for another encourages superiority, for a third expresses Love unconditionally, and for a fourth requires forgiveness.
Some see spirituality as a race to a finish line and the first to arrive does so because of the assistance of God provided to them because of their own purity of purpose. Systems of healing are established pyramid schemes, but deny it at every turn. Then the healing itself is under the control of the individual (empowered by another human) who has any number of "name brand spiritual beings to assist them.
It all seems very much about the human egowhat I can do or how special I amrather than a sincere search for unity with a higher power. One man, whose writing we have recently found, calls it New Age Occultism or Popular Occultism. Alexis Dolgorukii, writes strong essays. He would not totally agree with our way of thinking, nor do we totally agree with his, but it is well thought and well stated.
Part of his writing related to the manipulation of metaphysics:
"Now, this is an example of the "Metaphysical Problem" in its worst possible aspect. This is obviously either insanity or a scam or, and personally, I think this the most likely answer; it is a combination of both. What is being "sold" here is a fantasy, and the fantasy is this: If you can afford to waste $300.00 on this weekend, you belong in the illustrious company which Joshua Stone is claiming will be present. The important reality with which we all must deal is this: "High level Initiates" and "Inner plane Masters and Angelic Beings" are, for all we know entirely fantasy or fictional things. There is no pragmatic proof that such things are real, nor can there be! But what an ego trip this stuff is!
"In the course of the last thirty years I have been doing research into the metaphysical community and, in the course of that research, I have, unfortunately attended "meetings" of this kind. The best I can say for them is that they are silly, and that the people who attend them are, for the most part losers. Most of these so called "High Level Initiates" are simply disaffected housewives who are adding glamour to their lives by fantasizing status." Spirituality, on the other hand, is a very personal search. It has no need for verification from outside the individual. It exists independent of organized religion or formal philosophy, though may, of course, be found within either or both. It results in a quiet comfort and a calm knowing that the individual is sufficient to the day. There is no need for self-inflation or self-flagellation. Those who are most spiritual have no need to be known, no need to worship others, and no need to impose themselves upon anyone else. They simply are who they are and the confidence in that shines through the example of their lives.
TinaMay, I think that theeconomic system that exists today in many areas of the world would require Jesus or Buddha to charge for their work. When we look back upon the society in which they lived, people cared for one another both because it was the law to do so and because it was the only way for people to travel
RE: Is the New Age spiritual?
Unfortunately Im limited online so had to read quickly EAW. But yes.
One thing that occurs to me is that if you know Glastonbury, no spiritual people I knowlike the New Age shops there and in fact shun them like the plague - though the place itself is so important and can be wonderful.
PS can still hear Van Morrison saying after meetings, "What a foo++++ joker" 😀

RE: Is the New Age spiritual?
Yes I do feel that with the emergence of the New Age comes the "Golden Age". I feel that there is much spirit to come as the New Age ascends.
I also like how you pointed out miraculous powers as distractions. I remember reading from a Yogic book that one should first seek the ultimate unification, before trying to undertake magickal powers. I think that is why there are alot of miracles of the great masters, unseen by the average public who would wish to use these powers for selfishness rather than glorify God.
I definatly feel the new age is spiritual. I definatly feel more and more realise this. A good question you brought up Venetian. Much reverence to you.
Light unveiling, realise the higher self and its source connection of Spirit.
RE: Is the New Age spiritual?
Trust and faith are the key words here and that EVERYTHING has a very important reason for being. I guess this quote really sums it up for me.
"All is important
every word of love to spread
and every heart to share.
Who are you to judge?
For there are so many paths to GOD,
It matters not which path that people
choose to take, as long as they eventually
find their way home to peace and love."
From Sacred Words
and from Carl Jung
SUBJECTIVISM
And Jung said "The prominence of the subjective factor does not imply a personal subjectivism, despite the readiness of the extraverted attitude to dismiss the subjective factor as nothing but subjective. The subjective is not as subjective as we think, for the deeper we reach into the psychic currents of inner life, the more we leave behind the merely personal and touch those elements of experience that are timeless, unaffected by personalitic factors, and thus in a certain sense truly objective."
"Whoever speaks of the reality of the soul or psyche is accused of "psychologism". Psychology is spoken of as if it were "only' psychology and nothing else. The notion that there can be psychic factors which correspond to divine figures is regarded as a devaluation of the latter. It smacks of blasphemy to think that a religious experience is a psychic process....Faced with this situation, we must really ask: How do we know so much about the psyche that we can say 'only' psychic?
All has been part of spiritual evolution yes even spirituality itself evolves. The New Age came out of Theosophy and Spiritualism and the New Age will evolve into something new just like Einstein described science evolving. Leaving a lot behind even from the Indian sages! 😉
The new spiritual renaissance will come out of Europe.
The world as we have known it, will indeed pass away including many existing beliefs 😉
So in response to the original question 'Is the New Age spiritual' I would say yes, anything that leads people to the light of supreme love is influential spiritually. 😀
Love beyond measure
