i am curious. how does one come to realise their destiny? the feild i am embarking is surely quite esoteric. i have come as far as i can on my own. from what i know of the feild which i am interested in, i most definately need someone very wise to guide me with my meditation and study. i have milked the internet for all the information possible and its nearly empty. i come from a place where people know soccer, poker and alchohol. i am drawn to the road less travelled. surely someone has been in my position.- where do i go from here? any thoughts?

The best thing I can advise is - patience! It's a terrible cliche that when the student is ready, the master appears, but I've found it to be true. Cast your thoughts and intent out into the Universe and let it go with trust.
Continue working to find the Spirit Within and clear as much 'debris' as possible at this time. Look around for theosophy groups or spiritual development circles - even in the most unexpected places, they do exist.
Your teacher/guide will come along, Wind, I'm sure of it, but the greatest teacher is always your Self! 😀

Don't worry - it's just as Moonfeather tells it. To begin with, take the time to trawl through some of the old threads here on HP, especially those on the Spirituality forum. I believe you've come to the right place at the right time and will find many signposts waiting here for you. Welcome.

PS I used to think that the people around me in my day to day life were all on a very gross material level, as opposed to my 'spiritual' acquaintances, but actually there are loads of people out there who are very open and even more are awakening all the time. I have learned never to dismiss anyone...we really are all one. Stay away from the poker and the alcohol (there's nowt wrong with football though - quite a few of us are fans, even some of us ladies!) Go out into nature, look for the beauty all around....
And how about telling us something about yourself? We have a New Members section for people to introduce themselves - I appreciate you don't want to give away any personal details until you've checked out this site a little more but we're a really nice, helpful, respectful bunch of people from all walks of lives and with many different opinions. Aw, we're just a happy family really! Look forward to hearing more from you.

I agree with Moonfeather, subscribing as I do to the Groucho philosophy - 'I would never join a club which would have me as a member' - in other words, don't sign up to be a follower, but be your own leader.
However, I have found my own path is much easier in the company of fellow travellers, which is why I enjoy the particular personal development group I am with....who I really warmed to when finding the book title 'If you meet the Buddha coming down the road, kill him' in the reading list of the first course I did 😀
(no offence to my buddhist friends 😉 )
The same applies to this Forum, where there is a genuine outpouring of love and open-heartedness and acceptance - it feels like home [sm=dance.gif] so welcome fellow traveller - ?rainbow warrior.
