Hi all
I'm in a very happy, contented place in my life, and would like to start my spiritual development.
Does anyone have any ideas??? I don't want to try too hard as it may not be the right time.
I can't even get meditation right, find it difficult to quieten my mind etc etc. I feel really silly saying this, oh well.

RE: Development
Hi Hester,
I felt a bit like you do at the beginning too. And I am still new and learning. Why don't you go to the library and look in the new age section for a couple of books to read. See what jumps out at you...?
Or you could look at reading something like the Celestine Phrophesey, or THe Achimist (sorry spelling) or Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav or anything like that?
Try and perserve with your mediation coz it so good on sooo many levels. It is difficult but the more you practice the easier it will become. Yoga is also fantastic! If you have a look under the interesting web sites thread there are quite a few spiritual website that you can go and have a look at. Once you have done that you can see if there are any courses that interest you and go on a course of some sort.
Maybe you could try and find a spritual development group near you too? Talk to like minded people... Basically it all come from with in.. Do what feels right for you and you will know you are on the right path when things start to fall into place nicely. Little
co-incodences and stuf like that.
Good luck and just enjoy the journey you are on 🙂
RE: Development
Gosh I just read that and my spelling was shocking! Sorry! 😀
meant to say The Alchemist for the book to read (hope I spelt it rite this time)
AND I forgot to add... When trying to meditate why don't you try looking at a candle flame or concentrate on your breathing. Or what you can do that my reiki teacher taught me is: sit quitely still take a few deep breaths put your hands together in the prayer position. THen all you need to do is concentrate on your two middle fingers being together. Its great coz instead of trying to still your mind completely (which is a mission) you have somethign to concentrate on. Your mind will wander but just gently bring it back to concentrating on your fingers again.
You could also have a look at the meditation thread / forum on here. There is loads of help in there loads of different mediations and tips. And you can find one that will work for you. :o)
Much Love
Leigh:)
RE: Development
Hi Hester,
I'd say that if you are in a really good place right now, then your spiritual development is already progressing nicely. Life itself is a spiritual development. Don't try too hard. Life will change and worse times will come, but they are as valuable as the good times and will teach you alot. The bad times show us how far along our spiritual path to understanding, we have come.
Don't panic about meditation - take a walk in the park instead and listen to the birds.
Walk into the library and just pick a book - any which takes your fancy. From that book you will be led to others - through the bibliography or in the text of the book.
Remember above all that finding spirituality is FUN and not a chore. If it becomes a chore, look elsewhere for a short time and then return with new enthusiasm.
Also remember that spirituality means different things to different people - don't ever compare yourself to anyone else - it's your journay and yours alone.
And as for there being a right time - there isn't. If you are alive you are already living a spiritual path. Let it grow naturally.
Love and light,
Christina

Hi Hester [sm=wave.gif]
If you find meditation tricky - and I too find it almost impossible to sit still and be in the here and now for any length of time - why don't you try a guided meditation? There are some fantastic tapes and CDs about, probably you can borrow them from the library if you don't want to commit yourself too soon.
And - yes I agree with MysticMoon - a browse in the Mind Body Spirit section of the library or bookshop will give you loads of really good choices - the Celestine Prophecy is a great idea.
Otherwise just getting out in nature and being really aware of your surroundings - I mean noticing things you never did before - the wind, trees, sounds of birds and animals etc, can really bring you alive to your own unique spirituality. Don't get too bogged down in following a particular spiritual path would be my advice - you are you and will find your own way.
I hope you enjoy.....
Much Love [sm=nature-smiley-008.gif]
