RE: Chakra Cleansing/balancing
Couple of things I want to address here... the idea of the chakras as buds which gradually open and develop is pretty accurate, from what Barbara Ann Brennan says. She describes them as shallow Chinese tea cups.
The root one develops first, to anchor the spirit to the physical, so it's very important that the baby manage to do this, while still quite able to slip back out of the crown chakra, which they came in on. The chakras then develop according to the different stages in life, which I'm pretty sure someone (Giles?) described on another thread, so i'm not going to try and dig out that info! 😀
I like Garthur's way of balancing... nice and simple but effective. I've found during Reiki healing that women especially hold a lot of stuff in the sacral area; it's usually one of the main areas which self-healing tackles in the early months. Dunno if the same applies to men 'cos I've not treated many...

In relation to men, I would say Yes. Excuse me?![&:]:D I meant in relation to holding issues within the sacral. I have found this is especially true if they have experienced an upbringing where they were not encouraged to show emotions (too girly); where there was a lot of macho type aggression in the home environment etc.
The whole area of Chakras fascinates me and I try to do more research into the subject whenever I can.
I sometimes run a workshop "The Forgotten Chakras" - where we explore some of the secondary chakras and some of the individual chakra points within the main chakra areas. It can help give the healing a bit of a "boost"!!

PS The business about the root chakra anchoring etc., and the chakras developing according to different life-stages is something I have come across before. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
RE: Chakra Cleansing/balancing
Hmmm, this IS interesting and yet you would think that the chakras would be really clean and clear and open as we are born , i mean before we have learnt anything to block them.
RE: Chakra Cleansing/balancing
They are, Angel Light, but it's our experiences which affect them and if we don't progress through the various developmental stages correctly, then we can suffer under-developed chakras and all the attendent problems that brings up; hence men suppressing their emotional side affects the sacral and so on.
Your workshop sounds interesting, Garthur. There is a whole lot more to chakras than many people realise.
Oh, I meant to comment on the 'cleansing routine' further up... I usually start from the ground, root, move upwards and then come back down again. By remaining 'up' at the crown, you can leave yourself too open. There is also such a thing as being too grounded too! 😀

RE: Chakra Cleansing/balancing
How about this.....
Start at the crown if you need to relax, destress, get in touch with intuitive thought etc.
Start at the root if you need to energise your physical body.
I sometimes use a dowsing pendant to see which specific chakras may need some attention. It also lets a client see how energies work!
