Has anyone heard of a child being born with a flap of skin over their face? I was told a story of a baby born with this, and that the skin had writing on it, I can't remember the language. The skin was removed and kept in a jar of liquid, I can't remember the liquid. The skin would float or sink in the jar, depending on the health of the child. This person carried some psychic abilities/knowledge throughout their life.
Thanks!

Hi Killchar,
you are meaning a caul....which means a veil!
Covering the head and face, it was generally thought of as a lucky charm and protection against accidents, particularly drowning if kept...cauls were often sold as protective amulets.
Caul:"membranes or portions of the amnion covering the head of the fetus at birth."
According to some, the following famous people, both real and fictional, were born with a caul: Charles Dickens' David in "David Copperfield," Alexander the Great, Shakespeare's Hamlet, the mother of the Dionne quintuplets, and Danny in Stephen King's "The Shining." (An illustration of Danny with the caul appeared on one of King's original paperback versions.)"more can be read at[link= http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/901311432.html ]http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/901311432.html[/link]
and this page has more on the fully enveloping caul [link= http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=66526 ]http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=66526[/link]
I have to admit your sentance about floating orsinking reminds me of the so called 'Witch swimming'...hands and feet tied, they were thrown into a pond or river...if they floated, they were guilty, if they sunk, they were innocent...no win either way..[:@]

Lightwinds! You had one?!?! It was my great aunt who was born with one, sharp as a tack and dead-on correct about most things. I don't know her well, but my mom does. I didn't know any of my mom's family well at all, her other 3 aunts and her mother are all described as 'not quite right', whatever that means. Now, that's how I describe my mother 😉 ANyway, are you familiar with any writing that may be on a caul? Or of float/sink properties? Tell me more about you! Were you raised in a family aware of and receptive to your gifts? Have you always known? If you feel like sharing, that is 🙂 I apologize if I'm being intrusive <blush> I am grateful for your time. I adore your gifts as teacher and messenger, you are a blessing [sm=1kis.gif]
