No need to be sad. It's actually a wonderful thing to bear in mind, that as little as about a century ago, Djwal Kul was not Ascended. That happened roughly 100 years ago. So it's good to know and to see that just as he and all Masters were once flesh and blood as are we, so we can also become as they are. That's essential and good news, I'd say.
Bailey-oriented people, frankly, tend in my experience not to know their occult history, and they tend to make Djwal Kul into a kind of God. He's hardly that: he is a being like you and I, who advanced ahead of us. That's "all", and it's also how he'd like to be viewed - not as some form of perfect God.
I'm really not attempting to 'score points': any friend of the Masters is a friend of mine, so please accept me as such. I simply find it a shame that there's so little wider knowledge out there.
Kuthumi refers to the episode I referred to, in a letter to A. P. Sinnott which exists even now in the British Library, and which I have seen and touched. Keep in mind, that at this time, the late 1800s, Kuthumi and Morya were also not quite yet Ascended: they were, all three of them, still just about in bodies of flesh, hence prone to the occasional error. And Djwal Kul was the advanced disciple of the other two.
Masters are busy people, so DK was all at the same time multi-tasking: he lived in the Himalayas, which I know myself, so he was quickly getting from A to B in a run or fast walk. There, this will involve sometimes passing through small villages in the uplands. He had left his physical, biological (as it was then) body on "automatic", so that he could put all his attention upon a telepathic conversation. Little did he know that a beam had been placed across the path!
Again, while heart and devotion and motive are more important than knowledge, knowledge has its uses. How could we function if we knew nothing at all? So here is what Kuthumi wrote to Sinnott to explain the episode (because Sinnott, like you it seems 🙂 ) was aghast and couldn't believe such a thing had happened. Kuthumi [or Koot Hoomi] explains, in a letter you could touch yourself today:
--------------------------
[COLOR="RoyalBlue"]At this stage of our correspondence, misunderstood as we generally seem to be, even by yourself, my faithful friend, it may be worth our while and useful for both, that you should be posted on certain facts -- and very important facts -- connected with adept-ship. Bear in mind then, the following points.
(1) An adept -- the highest as the lowest -- is one only during the exercise of his occult powers.
(2) Whenever these powers are needed, the sovereign [Higher Self - V] will unlocks the door to the inner man (the adept,) who can emerge and act freely but on condition that his jailor -- the outer man will be either completely or partially paralyzed -- as the case may require; viz: either (a) mentally and physically; (b) mentally, -- but not physically; (c) physically but not entirely mentally; (d) neither, -- but with an akasic film interposed between the outer and the inner man.
(3) The smallest exercise of occult powers then, as you will now see, requires an effort. We may compare it to the inner muscular effort of an athlete preparing to use his physical strength. As no athlete is likely to be always amusing himself at swelling his veins in anticipation of having to lift a weight, so no adept can be supposed to keep his will in constant tension and the inner man in full function, when there is no immediate necessity for it. When the inner man rests the adept becomes an ordinary man, limited to his physical senses and the functions of his physical brain. Habit sharpens the intuitions of the latter, yet is unable to make them supersensuous. The inner adept is ever ready, ever on the alert, and that suffices for our purposes. At moments of rest then, his faculties are at rest also. When I sit at my meals, or when I am dressing, reading or otherwise occupied I am not thinking even of those near me; and, Djual Khool can easily break his nose to blood, by running in the dark against a beam, as he did the other night -- (just because instead of throwing a "film" he had foolishly paralyzed all his outer senses while talking to and with a distant friend) -- and I remained placidly ignorant of the fact. I was not thinking of him -- hence my ignorance.

That's an 'official' and completely recognised and accepted (by disciples) letter by Kuthumi. So what's your prob? Let us rather reason together, and not be offended by what we didn't know. 🙂
Every follower of the Masters accepts the hundreds of Letters written by M and KH in the late 1800s to be authentic: they usually appeared from thin air, and the writing is impressed upon the Tibetan and other paper in a way even modern physics still cannot explain (not by pencil or ink, but by changing the paper itself). They are now mostly kept in London. You surely know of the Mahatma Letters, which are also in print in book form?
This is on-topic to the thread, BTW. Without belabouring the point, Bailey was prolific on the Seven Rays, but most consider those hundreds of pages to be from her unconscious, whilst real teachings by the real Masters also do exist, and are much more to the point. 🙂 Should anyone not agree, because Bailey is particularly believed in here in the UK, then just humour me: I really don't see why anyone should react with great offense. Call it if you will a PoV.
Have you read "The Masters and The Path" by C.W. Leadbeater? That, IMHO, is a wonderful place to start. I highly recommend it. Personally, I could hardly ever read a whole book on a PC screen, but it is online, such as at:

Hi Venetian,
I have observed and listened to this discussion so far to see whether your arguments are persuasive, but I have to say that I am not convinced by all of this panning of Alice Bailey - you say her writings come from her personal sub-conscious and do not credit her with anything other than plagiarism. You even dismiss her contact with the Masters. I ask how does this serve you?
I can only speak from my experiences and I have personally found that the teachings of DK have helped me to understand more about myself and how I can utilise my time on Earth this time around.
I think whatever method we do to integrate our personalities so that we become soul infused and thus more conscious of the higher levels, the better it is for everyone around us.
Hi Soul Light
Welcome to the forums.
It is good to have someone on the forums with your knowledge of the works of Alice Bailey and the Tibetan. I look forward to reading more posts from you.

This goes back among chelas of the Masters for decades, Binah. There's no proof that can be offered in a forum post, which is why I suggest we just call it a PoV of mine. However, it's a very common belief, and not one other movement founded by the Masters supports Bailey as being an authentic source. IMHO I know the vibe and style of that Master, and it's nothing at all like the Bailey books. I did read just about all of her books by the way ... I finally faded during what was it? A Treatise on Cosmic Fire ... sum that one up for me and explain it in two pages hey? (yawn :p).
Trust me. I was right for example on Castaneda writing pure fiction, which didn't go down well on HP first time around. 🙂
And why the focus upon one Master, when there is an entire Brotherhood of Light? For starters, you really have to get "past" El Morya and his disciplining of you, before you ever become a chela of anyone else. Before that, you don't get too close to Djwal Kul or anybody else.
I can only speak from my experiences and I have personally found that the teachings of DK
Why the needless occultism? His name is phonetically Djwal Kul, spelled this way or however. 🙂 It's not as if the name is any secret.

... which apparently didn't include the fact that Djwal Kul was human like you and I just a century ago, and had a bad accident, reference to which made someone get all uppety. So let's have some real, deep knowledge of the Masters here. Not every one of the Letters makes for easy reading, but The Mahatma Letters is how they first announced themselves to the broad world, so one should at least have a reasonable knowledge of those Letters - it's how it all began.
