Hi
I've recently torn my meniscus and possible other damage to my right knee and am on crutches. I'm slowly recovering, but as a result can't really walk very well and can't do any exercise. Would anyone be able to recommend any yoga that I could begin doing that wouldn't involve my knee but that might get me going with exercise again?
Thank you 🙂
Jess
Hi Jess,
I would suggest you have a one to one session with a yoga teacher who could work with you on a series of postures that you can do that don't involve your knee.
I do believe that there is a yoga DVD out too called Chair Yoga, have a look on Amazon or some where and I am sure you will find it.
There are many yoga practices that do not involve the knee so good luck with finding something suitable.
Are you having physio? They may be able to suggest exercises, and is swimming an option, that would be a great rehab exercise.
I hope you heal well.

thanks karlin, that's really helpful. i'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment so the one to one will have to wait but the chair yoga sounds perfect until i'm more mobile. i want to get swimming but the gym i'm a member of is down 2 flights of stairs which isn't too do-able at the moment!
thanks again
I agree that the ideal is one-to-one. When you do have some money, and if you can find someone nearby, try viniyoga (see 20th March thread). Just one lesson will set you up to practise, till you can afford another one again. Marvellous.
