A bit queasy to watch,:020: but certainly amazing what disciplines are undertaken.
Would anyone do this practice to fight against illnesses:rolleyes:.........Alternative healing eh!:)

Yep - queasy it certainly is! I think I would just put up with the stomach ache rather that do that!

I come from India and have several very close relatives who are highly qualified Physicians, both in India and here in UK.
Several Misconceptions here:
1. Yoga is not, I repeat, NOT undertaken to CURE illnesses. The physical side was (and still is in India) intended simply to enable the human consciousness to merge with the Infinite (Yoga + Union, in Sanskrit).
It is a false and Western interpretation to regard Yoga as being purely a physical system of exercise. As a system of physical exercise, it is indeed excellent, a fact which is readily testified in any appropriate Medical text.
2. In India, the overwhelming bulk of the population do not, I repeat, NOT use Yoga to "fight illnesses".
In fact very few practise it, regularly and conprehensively, to my regret.
However, those that do use it, invariable, report relief from conditions like Spondylitis. It is well-known that it is one of the best, if not the best, form of exercise to develop flexibility, which is extremely important in middle and old age. Or even in youth, given the current rates of obesity in USA and the UK!
3. To fight illnesses the average Indian seeks conventional medical help, exactly as in UK.
My own niece, who practises in a rural hospital in India sees many such every day!
Regards.
