I'm not sure where to start but I guess i'm looking for a little hope (well a lot if i'm honest).

I love my wine and my chocolate although chocolate never used to be something I would choose.

Used to suffer with recurrent thrush and eventually i beat it back for a few years but then it struck again nearly four years ago. Three years ago it struck again but this time the only way I managed to clear it was through an extremely strict diet that left me feeling deprived and I always felt like I was missing out. Then of course everytime I went out for a meal I became the awkward one and going out for a drink I was the one with a glass of water.

Since then my diet has completely regressed, I haven't fallen into a health pattern of eating, always seem to think i'm missing out on something. Then the major one my sex life is non-existent and has been since October 🙁

Canesten, flucanzole, itraconzole etc etc do not work for me they only make me extremely sore. I have been tested and am clear on all fronts including thrush. But I know it's there as I don't seem to get full blown thrush attacks but i'm always sore with occasional discharge and worse after eating sugary / high carb foods.

I guess I just need reassurance that there is light at the end of this tunnel as i'm feeling low at the moment and food is where i'm turning everytime.

I used to have great willpower how do I get that back?

There is an excellent article in this month's Healthy magazine at www.healthy-magazine.co.uk or H and B by Dr Christine Tomlinson of the National Candida Society. I am also looking at Linda Allen's www.yeastinfectionnomore.com where she has a book of instructions to follow using various herbs - that could be a help. I'm sure there is plenty of suggestions on other threads posted on HP.

The important thing is to identify why you get it in the first place and deal with that, and when your body' back in balance, then it should be able to fight it off more easily.

Wishing you the best of health!

Caroline

Hi

I expect the fungus infection is resident in your gut.
Fungal spores are everywhere, we don't have to leave fruit very long before it gous mouldy. Our bodies should be able to deal with those spores by zapping them in our stomachs with the hydrochloric acid that the stomach makes. That acid is also important to digest proteins as well.
It therefore looks to me as if you are not zapping the spores due to lack of hydrocholic acid. To make hydrochloric acid you need zinc and activated vitamin B6. Most people aren't deficient in B6, so its raerely worth taking B6 what most can't do is activate it into P5P. Zinc is probably the most common deficiency in the western world, due to modern farming practice and food processing.

The 2nd line of defence is the healthy probiotic bacteria in our gut that should evict any nasty organism, so it suggests that you are deficient in these. I regularly treat thrush using nutritional therapy and probiotics without needing to make major changes in diet. After all, many chocolate and wine loving peoples don't get thrush, so thats not the cause, though of course sugar and yeast will promote it. The cause is that, you are unable to fight them. I usually use one specific probiotic, different for each person; but without seeing you I can't tell what that would be so your best is a broad spectrum probiotic. Good luck with their eviction
Sue, if you want more info please conatact me once i'm PM'able

Hi Unbalanced

Have you tried taking / using colloidal silver? There may also be a low acidophilus and bifidus (friendly bacteria) culture in your gut. That leads to your gut being overly acid, the perfect environment for unfriendly bacteria to flourish. These products are available over the counter at most health stores.

Imbalances in the body are not always from what we injest physically. Try looking at other aspects within your life and self that contribute towards you being 'stuck' in repeating patterns that no longer serve you.

(And you don't have to give up the wine or the chocs!) Hope you are feeling a lot better.
🙂
With love
BRose

First I want to say thank you to everyone for your replies.

I'm going to see if I can find a copy of healthy pages on Saturday and I have a read through.

Last year I did go back to fruit for a while (actually I was a bit like kid in a sweet shop) but now I've gone back to eliminating all fruit I used to have the occasional apple and have found that a banana gives me instant IBS symptoms. So combined with what i've read I stopped and from what I understand I should do this for at least a month?? After that maybe I can try the cranberry juice.

At the moment I am taking an adult multivitamin and mineral supplement by Biocare. Do I need to take a further zinc supplement?

I do take a probiotic everyday at the moment i'm using Protexin balance but have in the past used Biocare (very expensive) and Udo's choice. But its mainly the Protexin that I have been using. How do I know which is best? or when to change my priobiotic? I also read that FOS is good for you so I had been adding a teaspoon to my natural yoghurt but after the third day my stomach has decided it doesn't like the natural yoghurt anymore 🙁

I haven't tried colliod silver yet, i've started with the Caprylic acid and garlic atm.

Things have settled in the last couple of days but I feel an avalanche coming because it is my birthday next week. So I have a few meals planned with friends and family, a few days off the dread night shifts and a lot of studying to do for my accountancy tests in under two weeks time (fingers crossed i'll be able to change job in just over a years time). But i've got to find a balance because if I indulge too much I don't feel clear headed. At this point my brain feels like its going to expload so my first reaction is to say to hell with it and eat and drink what I want, suffer for it and then start again after my birthday (i'm sorry that sounds awful)

Once again thank you everyone 🙂

Hi. Only want to wish you a speedy recovery from that most annoying condition. I know wellwhat it is to suffer with it. My life saver was "Natural Bio Yogurt"- applied directly and also consumed. For last few months, if feel there is any risk of return, I also rinse off with a fwe drops of tea tree oil in the water. It's worth a try. Best wishes.

Hi, I just wanted to say i'm in exactly the same boat, but i now have new hope! Please make sure you read Erica White's Beat Candida Cookbook, although everything everyone has said so far is correct, this book talks you through step by step what supplements you should take and how much and how long for, which is what normally is left out of most candida books. There is also loads of great new recipe ideas which are easy to make. It tells you everything you could possibly need to know about yeast problems.
She does say that to beat candida you have to attack it in 4 ways - strict diet, vitamin supplements, antifungal supplements and when it is under control the repopulate with friendly bacteria.
So your on the right track but you need to do it properly if you are to beat it. The thrush will not go away until you get the candida in your gut under control. I feel like i am making progress so i really hope this helps you.
Good luck - don't give up!

Hi Unbalanced,

Have you tried Balance Activ? It's a gel that you insert yourself into the vagina. It's basically good bacteria that is naturally living in your vagina, you're just giving yourself good bacteria back, which will outweigh the bad and hopefully help. It is usually used to treat Bacterial Vaginosis, which a lot of people mistake for Thrush. Bacterial Vaginosis is very common.

I used it recently and it did the trick for me.
Here's a youtube vid about balance activ by DR Chris Steele.

I'm not saying this is what you have, but just trying to help.

HTH's.

I have the same problem with willpower 🙁

Was listening to motivation guru's on my MP3 player when walking..
That actually helped for a while.

I think that one of the most important factors in battling Candida infection is to have a strong immune system. The immune system is especially weakened by lack of sleep and stress, in that order.

So try to relax and get sufficient sleep, as well as the probiotics and a diet consisting of food with a low glycemic index.
